Girlfriend pissed my kid wants a cat

So Ive been dating this girl for almost 2 years. She dislikes animals. My son has been asking for a cat for 1.5 years and I finally said ok. My girlfriend is very upset, saying that she would never live with me bc I have a cat. Has anyone ever been through this??
