What is flirting?

This probably sounds really stupid but what would you count as flirting Orr showing an interest in somebody? My friend is always telling me that guys are flirting with me or that I'm flirting with them and I honestly don't see it. I've never been all that interested in relationships of that sort, I've just never had that feeling of wanting to be commuted to somebody or wanting to kiss or have sex with somebody. That's probably why I never bothered to learn what flirting is cos I never saw it as necessary. I tend to treat boys as I would any friend and yeah sometimes I'll mess around with them, which I think is one of the things my friend sees as flirting, but it's no different from how I treat any other friend or my brother. I tend to go a lot by how somebody acts with me for how I should act with them so I'm worried if, as my friend says, they are flirting with me I'm flirting back without meaning to. Should you treat male friends differently than you would a female friend or brother and how do you recognise if somebody is flirting with you? I do not want to be in a relationship. I just don't see the point in them and I don't think I can feel anything past friendship for somebody. If somebody gives a hint or asks me out though and they're my friend I'd usually go for it cos I don't trust my own understanding of emotions so go by theirs. This brings me to my lack of understanding of what love and crushes etc are like. I honestly wouldn't know love if it slapped me in the face. Please help if you can. I don't want to loose yet another friend over this. :/
