I don't understand this guy..help?

There's this guy in my class everyone thinks I should go out with and they always tease us about it. What I don't understand is this; he always makes joke comments about us two dating and me being really pretty. Then he completely ignores me when we have to sit next to each other and he gets really hostile and annoyed when he has to ask me for help What's up with him? Thanks xo
