Sex Before Marrriage

Growing up Christian, I was taught about purity and waiting to have sex. However, as an 18 female - I'm conflicted: as am not a fan of long term relationships and I am unsure if I even want to get married. I wanted to know other views on sex before marriage (religous or not) and whether this is an outdated principle?
