GIRLS: What would your reaction be?

Hi folks, I'm going to make this as short and simple as possible.

I'm at uni, and there's this amazing, bubbly and the sweetest girl. We share the course, a language module group (of 10) and a tutorial group. Well, used to, because the year's about to end. And she's in a different college.

I was oblivious to her presence the entire year and last term she struck me like a bolt out of the blue. Totally smitten.

Standard - FB Friend request. Anticipation. Finally acceptance. (Yay!)
During the Easter holidays, I started casual chats a few times. We didn't chat a lot, and a few times I did let desperation get the better of me, but all in all, I was in a better position by the end of hols (or so I thought).

I decided to ask her out (in a veiled way) after the last language seminar of the year. The occasion was a fancy, classy party after exams I had a ticket for. So that day, after the seminar, I walked a bit with her while explaining the existence of a such a party and in the end said "...and I have a ticket for this party so I was wondering if you'd like to go?" She's always laughing and smiling and that occasion was no different. She said she works at a club (which she does) and she wasn't sure what her work schedule was like (the party is in June) so she would have to check that first. I said ok, and said would add her to the event page. We parted. Better no answer than either of the two, thought I.

10 days and a tutorial (the one I share with her) later -

I decided to get it over with, so I messaged her on FB reminding her about it and very nicely requesting to know if she'd decided yet (I made sure I didn't come across as anything but mildly curious).

She said she was afraid it was going to be a no, because it was a Wednesday on the party day and Wednesdays are student nights so everyone works that night. 'It would have been fun though', said she. I took it as her lack of interest in me and thanked her for the reply. I took it well.
Asked another friend, she said yes.

But I feel that she's really amazing and I would like to tell her how I feel as a compliment if not anything else. Or else I'll always have a regret (although I figure she must've guessed that I like her).
Do you think I should go ahead and message her/ mail her, and let her know explicitly?
