I just don't understand the appeal. One of my (distant) relatives recently got married and she kept saying how it was the best day of her life and couldn't believe it...etc etc...I mean, if you've been organising something for the best part of a year how could it really be such a massive shock and suprise?! Surely signing a contract to legally bind yourself to the same person you've presumably been living with for a number of years anyway can't be that amazing. Don't even get me started on the first dance and speeches, it all literally makes me wince. I once saw weddings described in a magazine as 'other people's festivals of smugness'...that is literally all they are. | |||

Am I the only one who finds weddings really cringey?
