Turned down my friend because she was born a man. Why is this transphobia?

  • Thread Starter

I've know for a while that she was born a man, and I respect the fact that she made the decision to be who she is truly meant to be. But it's really weird, because I've known as a boy for almost all her life - she went through the surgery for 5 months. For all I know she doesn't have a penis any more.

She came up to me a couple days ago and told me she had feelings for me and wanted to date me... I told her that I didn't want to break down our friendship and that I didn't see her that way. She started to accuse me of transphobia?

I'm physically not attracted to her because of the fact that I still see her as that boy who was really feminine... I don't know if you guys understand. I mean, I respect her choices... I respect that she's a girl now... but I'm just weirded out by it... She doesn't want to talk to me any more either now... Was I wrong?
