Need a Christian's Opinion on Sex and Religion

Greetings:

This question goes out to Christians but Non-Christians can answer to.

When your kids get to be teens, what do you think the best way to talk to them in regards to when they are old enough to have sex.

I mean the churches say "No relations before marriage". People criticize this but do they expect the churches to say , "Go ahead and have sex kids!"

I wasn't told anything from my parents and knew nothing about how to talk to girls or how to treat girls, etc.

My kids are young but when they get old enough, my wife and I are torn between when is an appropriate age to let them have a girlfriend. They will be busy but it's human nature that they will have interest in the opposite sex.

I think 16 or 17 is the earliest age I would allow a relationship.

I can't believe how some parents let their little girls have boyfriends in grade 7 and 8. I think the earlier they start dating, the earlier they will be having sex.

The first girlfriend I had lost her virginity at 14 (freshman year) and she didn't think anything of it, a part of being an adolescent, she used to say.

To me it should be a little something more. What are your experiences on this matter?
