He thinks I'm not interested

  • Thread Starter

There is a guy I like and he knows I like him and I know he likes me. He has asked me to come away with the walking group on some walking holidays so I think he must be interested as he wouldn't have invited me. On Friday night we were out in a big group, he came up to me and spoke to me and said we can chat later. Later on he came over but I got stuck talking to a woman and I couldn't walk away from her as it would be rude which he left 2 minutes later. I smiled at him as he was about to walk away. It just seemed awkward after as there were so many people out we couldn't get opportunity to speak. How can I make it clear I am interested in him? He thinks I am not interested.

Just had first date ever, not sure about second.

  • Thread Starter

I'm 23, and haven't really had a relationship before. I'm quite happy being on my own, to be honest, but not forever.

My friend set me up with this absolutely lovely guy, but it was a bit of a shock to both of us (she just said 'you're going on a date tomorrow' when we were both there - well meaning, as he is in the same situation as me, but not really something I could say no to).

I really like him as a person (genuinely), and we have all the same interests. I would love to stay in touch, but I am not physically attracted to him. Our date was really nice, but I know I can never be physical with him, and eventually that's going to be an important part of a relationship. I don't want to lead him on, so I think I should stop it now. However, I feel really mean, because it is just about physical attraction, and that feels shallow, but that's not something I can do anything about.

I have never done this before. If he asks me again (I think he will), what should I do?

Almost cheated on my wife last weekend.

This may be long, but I'll try to keep it entertaining. Thanks in advance to anyone who hangs for the entire read :)

The wife and I haven't been getting along for a long time. We're newly married, and it seems like our relationship took a turn for the worse when we actually got married. I haven't been happy in a long time, and now I'm stuck in this rut dealing with her debt, fighting, distance, alcoholism, and lack of sex. We've been married since last May, and we haven't had sex in like, 5 months. We don't even sleep in the same bed. Hell, we don't even sleep in the same bedroom. I'm 32 years old, not 56, and I feel like Al Bundy already.

Even Valentine's Day sucked. Despite my effort to truly make her happy, it just entirely fell flat. She picked a fight out of nowhere, and by 8pm she was already in bed taking her rage nap, as I ate my 10 piece chicken nugget meal by myself for dinner, instead of going out like I wanted to. It's been a tough ass day, because I've always put forth effort here, and even though we weren't exactly getting along prior to Valentine's, I didn't want her to feel left out by everyone's gloating on Facebook. My dad wasn't exactly a romantic growing up, and I remember seeing my mom upset that he'd forget, or not do anything special, and I never wanted to be that.

She never really gave the day a chance from the get go, because she says it's her ex's birthday. Seriously. We've been married for almost a year, we had dated for two, and she was broken up with him for a year prior to us, and it's still all about that guy. Screw that. Unless he's literally Saint Valentine, what the hell does today have to do with him? It's been a tough week financially, and I managed to stretch my last spendable penny to try to make it special, and it just blew up in my face spectacularly.

So anyway, it's been pretty crummy on my end, but today got me thinking of something that happened last week. So I have this friend that I've been close with for 14 years. We were introduced way back when by my shady friend, and we went on a double date together with his girlfriend. Even though we had a great time, it never happened because he told me that she didn't like me. I let it be, and when we'd end up having a class together later on, we became good friends, even though she had a boyfriend. Years later, I'd find out that she had the biggest crush on me, and that my friend made up a lie so that I couldn't expose him to his girlfriend by being in the same circle (he was lying to her). So in a way, this friend of mine became sort of the one that got away, though on my end, it's been nothing but platonic since then. She's since been married twice.

For whatever reason, her current husband doesn't like me very much, and as a result, we don't hang out often anymore. But recently we got back to talking, and on one day that I had a big fight with the wife, she proposed going out to a bar that night to talk it out. Spontaneous, but it was a lot of fun complaining and catching up at the same time. Ever since then, we had talked steadily, but it was weird to me that she hadn't mentioned her husband, and that she'd be available all times of the night without him. So last weekend, she calls me and asks me out. I lie to the wife and come up with an excuse so that I can sneak out and go to the bar with my friend.

We're talking, and she's being flirty, she starts dancing on me, and then she starts whispering in my ear and kissing it. I'm shocked, and I was completely confused because here's one very attractive person entirely into me, meanwhile the wife at home wouldn't look at me if I had spontaneously combusted right in front of her. All the while, I'm on my best behavior by not giving in, or reciprocating, though I honestly don't tell her "no". It was flattering, it felt good to have some attention for the first time in nearly half a year, though I wasn't so sure if I could act on it. I guess I felt bad that the wife was at home watching Netflix, thinking that I went to visit my brother and we're playing Mario Kart, meanwhile I'm with another woman.

We leave the bar, and I end up following my friend home (we literally live half a mile apart) because the night was still young. Her husband isn't home (I still have no clue where he is), and in her mind, she's already punched in two tickets to Pound Town. I get off the couch, and have my John Travolta in Pulp Fiction moment in the bathroom, and ultimately decide that I can't go through with it despite that she's totally willing, totally hot, and a complete incarnation of everything that my wife is not at the moment. My wife is very attractive, but what I meant was that she's just this cold, lifeless, soul sucking succubus that's out to ruin my life. Meanwhile I got my friend here who is completely flustered, and my ego is through the roof. That was victory enough, and I went home, despite that she literally asked me to spend the night.

This is huge for me, because I've seriously cheated on every single one of my girlfriends except for my wife. Remember in the Grinch where his heart grew 3 times its size by the end of the movie? Well, my broken excuse for a fidelity meter grew 3 times its size. I haven't spoken to my friend since the next morning, where we kinda cleared the air, but after eating McDonald's alone for Valentine's where my self worth is rock bottom, I can't help but wonder if I did the right thing or not. I could've done it, and the screwed up part is that I could've told my wife that night, and she wouldn't have believed me. She sincerely thinks that I couldn't pull a girl, and that I probably rubbed myself in pork chops to achieve the musty smell.

I really don't know what the point of all of that was, whether I just wanted to write it out to see what it looked like, get advice, or what, but maybe at the very least it could serve as a warning to anyone who makes their significant other feel like crap on the reg: it came that close, and it's that easy. I don't feel entitled to having my wife doll up and put out because I got her some flowers and gifts today, but at the very least, she could've at least cracked a smile or given me a hug. I didn't get a hug or a kiss today, and this was our first Valentine's as a married couple.

anyone else found that sex has changed...

during the time they were married?

Before ex, I had had sex with about thirty men. After I met him, it was him and only him for 25 years. Now I seem to have stepped right back into my pre-monogamy mode as if nothing happened in between. :o I've been with 12 men since august. (This all strikes me as kind of bizarre behavior -- like a Jekyll and Hyde sort of thing -- but that is for another post I guess.)

Anyhow... I swear that how men have sex has changed immensely since I was last single. I'm sure the internet is the big game changer, but it hasn't changed things the way I would have thought. It's not that these guys are all showing off the moves they've learned watching porn, at all, which I'm thankful for. lol But they all seem to know a little something about tantra and are totally getting the whole g spot thing (I didn't know for sure I had one till after the break up! lol). And almost always before ex and the whole time with ex, sex was done after everyone had an orgasm. Now I have no idea when it should end. The end point seems to be whenever you hit the wall.

The whole experience is completely different to me. And it seems to be nearly universal. It's not just the ones I've met online, and it doesn't seem to be an age thing (they've ranged in age from 26 to 63! lol), there has been a large range in education, too. I've been with a couple of guys who seem to be pretty marginal in terms of work/career and then a thoracic surgeon and one who sold his business for 330 million dollars and a construction worker and a guy who worked at NASA. But they seem to all have this sex thing in common.

What do you guys think? Is this a real thing? Have people really changed the way they have sex over the last 25 or 30 years?

Got in a fight!

  • Thread Starter

So basically, I would like to know your sentiments on what happened to me the other night, here goes.

Well it all started when I came back from a nightout. I was a little intoxicated and was generally in a upbeat, good mood (had a good night).

What I came back to was, anger and aggression, from my so called friend, her B/F and her sister. I walked in the house with this guy, might I reiterate, I was intoxicated and when I am, I became incredibly carefree, I don't remember much of the guy, I do know I was with him for most of the night.

Before this, my friend said she was upset that I stayed in the club we were at with her other friend, I defended my by saying I was not aware of this, which I wasn't, as I was carefree at this moment. This swell the fact I walked in with this guy was apparently the cause of everyone turning against me.

I then proceeded to get rather emotional, cried for a bit and then decided to go and punch this other guy who was not involved in the quite frankly the attack I was under.

He was distressed, understandably, I was then pulled off of him, obviously, but, I want back again to apologies and was pulled off him again. I cried some more any wanted to go home.

Can anyone make any sense of this behaviour?

Should we be more like the Swedes?

  • Thread Starter

Swedes don't date.

From what I hear, they meet each other with their groups of friends at parties. Then sometimes they will hook up - as in go back home together. After a few times of hooking up with the same person they might consider themselves to be in a relationship. (Any Swedes correct me if I'm wrong). Relationships are always kept ambivalent.

Swedes have no hangups talking about sex even with their parents. They are not hung up on nudity like the Americans.

(It is the extreme opposite of American dating system where everything is formal and direct as in "Would you like to go on a date with me?" And America is a country where topless sunbathing is banned in many States which has the odd effect of making America the breast enhancement and porn capital of the world. Because if you ban something, it makes people want to see it more.)

For Swedes lust comes before love.

The Scandinavians are some of the happiest peoples on Earth. Could this be why?

In Iceland, it is very normal to change husbands or wives. And they live in large families with children form different men. This being due to the old days when the Vikings used to go off to sea leaving the wives to dally with other men. But fairs fair because the Vikings got them some when they went off pillaging. Divorce is not frowned upon in Iceland because it is a normal thing and they are not Christians but believe in elves.

So should we be more like the Vikings? (Even though most people in UK have some Viking genes).

Is it better to be single? - The Revived Thread

  • Thread Starter

Check here for the first posts: http://ift.tt/1zBCBD8

There are some interesting posts in the original thread.

Personally, I think the question is worded in absolute terms which is what makes it so unlikely to be agreed with anyone. I agree with the views saying that the unspoken rules of social conformity might put some pressure in staying in a relationship, as well as with the opinion that in some cases individuals enter in a relationship because of self-esteem issues.

So the way I see it, whether it is better or not depends on what you want a relationship for and whether you can have that outside a relationship under conditions that you deem acceptable.

Should I contact her?

  • Thread Starter

I'm a guy. I and a girl were best friends till September last year when I asked her out. She rejected initially; then was unclear about her decision saying I made her rush and put her on the spot;then rejected me after some days. I was moving to a far away city when I asked her out: that might have played some role in the rejection - she also told me other reasons for the rejection.

After this incidence, we made up just before I moved to the new city. But things got out of hand due to interference from other people (gossips etc). She was angry and we decided to end our friendship. However, we made up again - I think.

She initiated contact once in a while but I initiated most of the contact between September and December (we chatted probably about 6 times in this period). I invited her for an event in which I was getting an award in November at her uni: she rejected the invitation and never asked me how the event went. I forgot this episode and contacted her a week post-event. Also, I went for a concert at her uni and I told her I would be coming; all she gave was a thumbs up. I was not happy and didn't respond to her reply but went to the uni still.

In christmas break, I went home for holiday. Our mutual friend (a guy) who knew about all that happened planned that three of us should meet during the holiday. We had to change dates to fit her work schedule (she chose the date). Then on christmas day, I asked her if she would meet up as planned. She said: "I'm tired. Too much stress from my job. I will let you know of another day when we can meet." Anyway, she never contacted me afterwards.

Now, we have not spoken since christmas day. I must say that I have lost all the romantic feelings for her. Also, I no longer have the same friendly affection that I used to have for her. But I still care about her as a friend (although I don't count her as my friend anymore.)

Recently, she's posted some things online which makes me feel that she might be going through a lot. She posted these:

"Feeling like myself for the first time in forever. Learning about life as I go along but I'm still me"

"Never let your feelings get too deep, people can change at any moment"

"What can you do when the love turns to hate??"

I know these quotes are not about me because it is very recent and our problems happened last September till about November.

Anyway, I have this urge to contact her and check on her but I am too proud to do so (because she does not make the effort to contact or meet up).

Does anyone have any advice for me? Should I contact her, swallow my pride and free myself of the urge?

I like a guy who's in a relationship!

  • Thread Starter

So I like this guy in my school. He's in one of my lessons and I like him. Problem is he has a girlfriend in the US. I'm quite annoyed, they've been together for 10 months. What do I do? Do I just stop talking to him or what. It stresses me out.

I think I'm bi ... but don't want to be

  • Thread Starter

So recently I've found some females really attractive (mostly older than me, I don't crush on girls my age - I'm 17) but I'm a little worried because I always thought of growing up, getting married and having children. Maybe I'm too young to be thinking about those things and it's my hormones talking but I've had a crush on this female for about a year now and it's taking over my life :unimpressed:

Don't get me wrong, I totally support homo and am not homophobic but the thought of MYSELF being bi is quite disturbing since I come from a religious family and my parents + brother disapprove of homo.

I'm constantly trying to make them see that being homo isn't a bad thing but they just say it's unnatural :/ hearing them say this is making me feel really bad about myself and I don't know what to do!! :bawling:

Any advice? :(

Am I totally in the friend zone with this girl?

  • Thread Starter

I work with this girl. She's very upbeat with me, confident etc. she teases me, makes fun of me, calls me names, likes to talk to me. Calls me by my full name sometimes, she's started calling me 'love' on occasion for some reason. When We look at eachother she looks at me with a big grin on her face, sometimes I talk to her and she randomly starts smiling and laughing? When I've been talking to her, on a few occasions she just randomly comes out with 'awww look at you!' When Im in the middle of talking to her. She seems to think I'm very funny. I was joking about how I'm going to get a Valentine's date, and she was laughing at my story and then told another girl about it. She sometimes also subtly touches me, or brushes against me. She has a bf who she does occasionally talk about, so I asked something about him, she be like, 'I don't know I don't listen to him'

I do have a soft spot for this girl, and yes I know she has a bf and I dont Intend to do anything, I'm just curious for my own experience whether this is definate friend zone behaviour?
