Note I'm not talking about PDA -- since neither myself or my girlfriend like these.
I was married for a long time, my current girlfriend has only had one serious boyfriend before me (did not marry). Things are plenty serious now and we're close, but I am envious of couples (both married and not) that publicly state they are in love, either on Facebook or in person.
While she will tell me she loves me plenty in private, and everyone can tell we're really close to the point our friends will say (again both in person and on Facebook) that we're in love. However, she will never say it publicly or 'confirm' it when its brought up. And it bugs me. I don't say it publicly either because I know it makes her uncomfortable, otherwise I have no problem with it (said it plenty -- that wasn't a problem for me before).
I asked her about it and she said she's just a private person and that won't change. I kind of understand that, but it feels to me like she's just ashamed of being in the relationship. Part of me is like that's stupid, but I can't shake the feeling.
Guess I thought I'd put it out to anonymous people on the Internet to see if I'm over-reacting and just let it be.
