Do guys lie about a girl's body to make her feel better?

The guy I am seeing is a really good friend of mine, so I don't know whether he is just lying to make me feel better! I have never liked my nipples (I think they're too big - around 5cm whole thing diameter) and I have told him this, and he says he likes them and pays a fair bit of attention but as I don't really see the niceness I just don't believe him! So do you lie to girls about thier insecurities? I'd really rather he didn't lie about liking them
