Boyfriend is moving to Holland for University

My boyfriend of 8 months is moving to Holland to study at University for 3 years at the end of the month and we are breaking up. I finish University in 2 years. I need advice on how I can get over this and any stories on similar experiences anyone else as had? I'm really upset about the whole thing, I'm scared of being lonely and the idea of us completely drifting apart as we get on together perfectly, the relationship itself has been amazing and we both don't want it to end. The reasons for not trying long distance is that my boyfriend is very bad at staying in contact at home, and we think it will make us miss each other more. He also thinks we are too young to do anything as serious as long term. But, he has clearly made the point and I have also that we are not doing it to be single and look for another relationship.. that is the last thing either of us want. I just don't know how I'm going to cope, I'll be losing a best friend and I need any kind of support or advice on how I'll get through it, and if I even can. I still can't see us breaking up and I know it will hit me hard when we finally do. Any thoughts or comments would be really appreciated :-)
