Female troubles

Hello. Ok, I have quite a lengthy story that I'd like to share, and I need some opinions on what I should do.

I'm coming to the end of year 12 now, and from the beginning I've had a huge crush on this girl, which for the sake of this story we'll call Milly. We're in the same class for one of my subjects, and to begin with we'd talk and stuff. We always made eye contact, and I was never sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing. This went on for 4 months, and then my friend and I decided to play a game at a sleepover type thing. Basically, we'd message one random girl on each other's FB friends list saying that they had a crush on them. So, I went though his list and messaged some girl, and he did the same to me. Unfortunately, he decided to message Milly's best friend, saying that I love her. The friend believed this at first, and my friend and Milly's were liaising for a while. In the end, Milly's friend told my friend that Milly fancied me, and she wouldn't want to hurt her by doing anything with me. This made me pretty happy; I found out that Milly liked me.

I decided to message Milly's friend, stating that I fancied Milly and not her (not in a horrible way or anything), and she initially said that it's cute and she wouldn't tell Milly.

After this event, my friend thought it would be fun to message more of Milly's friends, saying that I was in love with her. There's no doubt that they told Milly as they're all quite close.

When I went back to school, Milly started to sit nearer to me in class. For whatever reason, I got nervous and then didn't even talk to her. After 3 or 4 lessons of Milly sitting practically next to me, she moved back to her previous position and Milly's friend messaged me saying I shouldn't ask her out.

3 months later, we still make the eye contact, and I just feel really awkward. My friend messaged Milly last night, saying that I still love her. Today during class, I heard Milly whisper to the friend that my friend initially messaged at the party "He still loves me". As it was a whisper, I couldn't tell if it was a happy tone or a worried tone.

She must think it's all very weird. We barely know each other and my idiotic friend keeps telling everyone I love her. This is really annoying because I can't fight the awkwardness to talk to her, but she's absolutely stunning and I don't want her to slip away. I don't know what to do :). Any advice would be appreciated.

Hope you guys understand this!
