How to meet more girls and get invited to parties

I am 16 years old and at school I am not a 'loner' I do talk with people at school and I am quite out going. But at home I only visit a couple of these people outside of school very rarely and I really want this to change. Also, I have a very small amount of pictures of me and my friends (which I would like to change) and I go to a very small amount of social events such as parties outside of school. My usual weekend is just me spending all my time in my room, occasionally asking my friends to come round to play video games but they are always the same small group of friends. I don't do anything different such as go to concerts and parties and events. Also, I really want to socialize with people outside of school, especially with people who go to parties and girls (I am a boy) because the 'school prom' is coming up and I want to go with a girl or at least talk with them at the prom. I really do want to go to parties and concerts but... when I hear people at school talking about inviting people they never talk about me... :( and I don't think I can ask oh can i come because they will think I am someone who hates parties and social events and I'm not considered popular. I don't want to desert my group of my friends I just want to bridge out to other people. so what should I do?
