I've liked this girl at my uni for about a year now. I'd say we're friends but I only ever see her on nights out. I really want to make a move on her but I'm not sure if I should because I'm getting such mixed messages.
This girl is sometimes really friendly but other times, she'll be really cold and basically ignore me. I saw her for the first time since coming back to uni about a week ago. It was during a night out so I think she was pretty drunk but when she saw me, she gave me a massive hug and we spent ages just catching up. I was coming onto her fairly strongly (buying her drinks, asking if she wanted to dance, etc) but I don't think she noticed. Either way, she didn't tell me to go away but then she didn't exactly flirt back much.
At the end of the night, I bumped into her again. She was by herself so I thought I'd walk her home. I walked her to her accommodation block then because she was being so friendly and nice, I thought I'd try pushing my luck a bit so I told her I'd like to see her room. She seemed pretty surprised but said I could come up if I wanted. When we got to her room, she sat down on her bed and I sat next to her. At this point, I was sure that something was about to happen between us because we were both drunk and sat together in her room, on her bed. So I started stroking her leg and was hoping she'd get the hint. Instead she just began telling me about this boy she had been sleeping with and admitted she still had feelings for this guy.
I was pretty flattered that she'd been so open with me so I thought maybe she did like me. She told me she was tired and wanted to go to bed so I decided to give it a shot and leant in for a kiss. She completely ignored this and gave me a short hug instead
I really don't understand this girl. Maybe she's just shy but I'm pretty sure I've seen her flirting with other guys. She hugs me, spends ages talking to me, she didn't move away when I put my hand on her leg but when I lean in to kiss her, she backs away! She was very drunk though so maybe she didn't notice that I was trying to get with her? I thought that must have been pretty obvious when I asked to see her room though.
What should I do? I was thinking about just going for it and asking her out. Would this be a good idea? Does it sound like she likes me?
