There are similarities:

--Using their collective power to force negotiations.

--Intimidating other members to stand with them or face primaries (similar to intimidating employees to stand behind union demands or face job loss/sanctions)

--Threatening to disrupt government if demands are not met (similar to strikes and work slowdowns)
