My partner is usually opinionless and has poor communication HELP!!!

My partner of 2.5 years never really has opinion about anything and its drives me crazy, I don't know what to do.

For instance, if we're asked to do something with a group of people that doesn't sound very appealing to me, like a vacation or something, he will never say that he doesn't like the idea either, even when I'm saying I don't. His "silence" or apathy, makes me feel like maybe he likes the idea and just doesn't want to offend me, so I'll just do what I THINK he wants to do, which would be to go with the rest of the group - it's usually not until it's too late or after the fact that I learn how badly he wasn't interested either, and that annoys me so much.

I'm very vocal, very opinionated. I feel I have a small ego, because its usually (if not always) me that admits when I'm wrong, or if I make a mistake, and I always apologize when I'm not right. He rarely ever apologizes. I honestly can't think of the last time he apologized during an argument. He usually justifies his wrongs. Example - "Well I wouldn't have done that if..."

I feel our communication sucks.

If we're having a problem that needs to be discussed, it will not be addressed until I start the conversation. And that's annoying, because we will literally be mad until I feel it's time talk everything out.

He never has an issue with anything until after I address it.

And when we do have these conversations, I can always expect him to blurt out an ambiguous statement, that could be referring to several different things, but when I question him about it he'll back down and not clarify himself.

I also think the communication may also be rooted to our families. I've noticed his family doesn't really talk about or mention touchy or uncomfortable topics, while my family is the total opposite - I would say my family even over-communicates. But that's just a thought..

Geez, feels so good to type all this out - I feel like I just did therapy lol

my wife shows no affection and recently started openly fantasizing in bed

Let me start by saying my wife and I get along very well, usually, and really enjoy doing things together. We will spend at least two or three days a week together going on bike rides, skiing, kayaking, dinner dates, and various other things. I think our time spent together is generally very quality time.
My problem is she can never show me any affection. If I try to kiss her all I get is a little peck. If I try to hold her hand she pulls it away within five seconds or so. Recently, I've been asking her to join me on the sectional couch, where there is plenty of room for her to sit, and she almost always responds with "That's ok. I'm good here". She did actually join me a week ago and sat three feet away from me. That felt worse than if she hadn't even made the move. This lack of any kind of physical contact has been bothering me more and more over the last several years and I'm about at the end of my rope. I have mentioned it to her and she makes a feeble attempt for a few days and then it's back to the old routine.
I will say we have always had sex on a regular basis, and while I think we both enjoy it, it sometimes seems too routine. I can't get her to try anything new and it feels like she is only doing it to keep me from nagging her about it. She has also become a very selfish lover, in my opinion. While I would go downtown with her every time if she would agree, she hasn't done the same in over two years. I feel as if she has become a taker and gives back nothing. Her attitude is, "let's get this going, I've got more important things to do". When it's over she goes to the bathroom and then back to the family room or to bed, where she rolls on her side facing away from me. Never once do I hear an "I love You", unless I say it first.
The latest twist and to me the most disturbing, is for the last couple of months she has her eyes closed the ENTIRE time we are having sex. I can't say making love because I don't feel as if she is making love to me. I feel as if she is making love to someone else. I watch her face with her eyes closed and I can only wonder what is going on behind them. We have always had a lot of eye contact and for her to completely shut me out like that is probably the most painful thing I have been through with her because it happens every time, now.
I have mentioned it and that it bothers me and she said it's nothing, she's just closing her eyes. I asked her who she was thinking about and she said "Who would I think about? I don't even know anyone to think about". That is such a BS answer, I can't believe she said it. I realize everyone thinks about someone else at times during sex, but I don't think what is happening is a healthy thing to be doing. Especially for our marriage.
I don't believe that she has had an affair before and I don't think she is having an emotional affair, either. She works from home an is on the phone in meetings half the day with colleagues from different states, so she isn't physically in contact with anyone during the day. I do believe she may have an infatuation with a coworker, though. She has met most of them while on business trips.
My income has gone down during the last few years due to my company going non-union and my need to accept the cut in pay in order to keep working. She has mentioned that she blames me entirely on our financial struggles to pay for two kids in college and that I am not doing enough to support the family. I have never turned down extra work and rarely spend money on myself. I am starting to feel as if I am not enough of a man in her eyes when she compares her financial struggles to what she perceives her male coworkers financial lives must be like.
As a footnote, she and her co-workers all make over 100k and I am recently retired working for my old company one week per month(as allowed by the union to still collect my pension) and bring in a little over half of her income. I still do side work as often as I can. Until 2008, she only worked two days a week to allow her more time with our children. She somehow forgets that part of our lives.
I think she has a lot of resentment towards me for taking my pension, while she has to still work. The fact of the matter is that with the recent cuts in pay, my pension is the same as working fulltime. So, I figure I can collect it , work 39 hrs/month and do side work and we are ahead of the game, financially. Also I am 57 years old and she is five years younger. I think she believes I shouldn't retire until she can.
Anyhow, my questions are , has anyone else been through this with the fantasizing thing, and what did you do about it?

Help with a girl

  • Thread Starter

Right so I'm 20 and was a supervirgin until last night. I'd never kissed a girl let alone done anything else. Snogged a stunning girl friend in a club last night and my head is now spinning a bit. I'm extremely insecure and I can't quite remember anything but I'm ridiculously worried I was rubbish. We must have snogged for about 5 minutes all in all. She pushed me away a few times then pulled me back in. Grinded me also. I remember kissing her cheek and neck when she grinded me. I can't remember how we left it but I'm uber paranoid I ****ed up and she shut me down.

Basically I'm just looking for any words of support, guidance on how to bed her and how nervous I should be about my performance last night and whether I should try pursuing her now at all.

  • Thread Starter

Hi everyone, so I met a really nice guy and like him, but he doesnt evoke the same feelings as I had for my ex (togther for 4 years). However in the begining of dating my ex I remeber I wasn't so into him until mid-relationship. I keep comparing my feelings towards my ex to this new guy. My ex was a utter douche and cheated on me 3 times...

will it take a while for me to feel a lot more for this new guy? or should I already be very into him, weve only been speaking for 1 month...?

Horrible situation with ex

  • Thread Starter

Hi-

I am really in a bad place. Boyfriend split up with me after three years in december and we have been trying to see if we should give things another shot. He slept with someone the day after we split up(which killed me) and has cheated on me in the past. He is abroad right now on a study trip, and before leaving we told each other we love one another. A few days into the trip he told me he didnt want to call me his girlfriend as he wanted to build a friendship with me first (I had made my feelings totally clear that I wanted him back and that I loved him). We had a huge argument last night which revolved around him not calling me, and I was quite upset after he called me a few names. He then said we should end it properly.

Im so upset by this, I feel at a total loss at what to do-it seems like things are fine when I am around, but how after three years you can just treat me so poorly? I really need some advice, I feel like I have been drowning in this for months, I just want my best friend back.

Atheist or Christian? does it affect how you forgive?

Long story short.

Does our religion or non religion play a large role in how or if we can forgive? Especially affairs?

Not judging anyone, trying to understand.

I have Slept with five women. Please help.

  • Thread Starter

So recently within the past year at university, I have slept with five women. I'm a guy and 20 between.

The issue comes to play, that I am a super cautious guy and this should not have happened.

4/5 were hot

1 was not.

I wore a condom and this was a one time occurrence with each women in question. So five times, finished in the condom etc.

The issue is, I constantly worry that I might have gotten any of the five pregnant, I know for a fact it is so so not possible, as I am very careful. However my analytical mind has come into play after the animalistic nature of my actions whilst at university, 'herd mentality'.

I also constantly demean my self esteem for having been in this herd mentality, as I would not have slept with the four out of the five women. This plays havoc on my mentality to the point where I can't get out of bed.

I also worry that somehow I might have caught an STD or even worse although the tests have all come back normal.

For guys that do this and are still doing this, how do you cope? and have you ever had sex with a woman which you regret later, as a result of being drunk or just animalistic tendencies and herd mentality.

I wholly regret it, and have drilled into my mind that I must only have sexual intercourse with women that I see a future with. I know five is not many, but if I cut it out now, this will not become an issue in the future.

The problem is and some might find this arrogant. I am terribly handsome and witty and I just can't stop myself, I have constrained myself for one year. I am a natural when it comes to attracting women, and it could have been over thirty now if I had not constrained myself.

I just love everything about women, their laugh, body, energy.

AHHHH.

PLEASE HELP.

I keep thinking what if one them had gotten pregnant or had a baby and not told me.

Why do Asian guys take rejection so badly?

  • Thread Starter

I'm just curious, I've noticed this a lot. South Asian/brown guys, seem to take being rejected really badly, even more so than guys of other races. I've been out on a night outs and I've lost count of how many times they've grabbed me to the point where my male friends have to step in and things get violent. I've had my bag stolen by a group of guys because I rejected two of them. Even the ones I've met through friends or at uni have been unpleasant, like one guy who all of a sudden started being racist after I said I wasn't interested.
I know this is a big generalisation and not all Asian guys are like this but I'm just going off my own experience.

What are your thoughts? Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Nevada Quick Divorces Legal ?

I am curious if anyone out there has done a Nevada Quickie Divorce, the kind where you go there for a weekend and get a divorce ? I don't want to drag this out through the local jurisdictions, takes a long time and the Attorneys and Judges always get their cut ............ I would appreciate hearing only from someone that has done this and how it affected their financial obligations afterwards such as other spouses credit card debts and other debts. How did it work out ? What does it cost ?
Is the Quickie Divorce recognized by the State that you live in and is it recognized by the creditors ? Please be factual and to the point. Thank you for your time ............ Tennessee

Life with trophy wife 20 years later

First and foremost I do want to say I love my wife and she's done absolutely nothing to lead me to this point. She is who I married.

Issue is 20 years later as we're growing older I'm finding my priorities changing and she cannot satisfy these priorities. What was important to me 20 years ago has been replaced with wanting to have a companion who I can have a conversation with, someone I can share hobbies with, someone I have things in common with.

Now that our son is older we seem to have nothing in common, I become frustrated with her lack of interest in anything other than shopping and going to the gym, her refusal to better herself. For instance, it's difficult having a conversation with someone who cannot name the Vice President of the US or even the capital of the state we moved to 5 years ago.

I find myself becoming increasingly frustrated when she'll ask me for help with the most basic things like asking me what half of a 1/4 cup is.

Dinners conversation lasts less than a couple of minutes, phone calls home when I travel are practically silent.

I've suggested she read a book, take a class, become involved in something to better herself but she shows no interest.

I do not think I can continue to live like this and fear divorce may be the only way to maintain my sanity. I cannot imagine living out my retirement years with someone who cannot engage in a conversation or the extent of her conversation skills last less than a couple of minutes.

I suppose for years I dealt with this because she was the trophy wife, as I grow older I suppose I'm needing more substance than beauty.

I've been faithful to my wife, however, I will admit it's becoming increasingly difficult. My job puts me in positions where I meet and interact with accomplished women; I find myself greatly enjoying dinners with them, drinks etc. Long conversations covering a wide variety of topics, very stimulating.

I find myself feeling bad for her as she's done nothing wrong, she is who I married but I see a miserable future ahead.

Let the past go?

I recently ran across an old boyfriend that i hadn't spoken to in several years. Our relationship ended because i caught him cheating with a friend of mine, and found out that this cheating was a pattern of behavior for him.

He is now married. I don't know if he's been faithful or not, but i know he's been trying to get kind of friendly with me. I kind of feel like i should warn his wife about his past behavior. But since i don't know if he's ever messed around on her, I'm not sure if that would be out of line.

Should i say anything to her, or leave the past in the past?
