Took my boyfriend on holiday for his birthday, he just got me a pair of earphones

  • Thread Starter

Feeling pretty depressed about this tbh.

Last year, I surprised my bf, and took him abroad on holiday for his birthday. He bought me a pair of gloves (albet they were from Reiss).

This year, I took him to Belgium, he got me a pair of earphones.

Needless to say, I'm feeling pretty upset. It isn't about how much they cost, at all... I just thought he'd put more thought into it. He's 36, I'm 25. His birthday was in Sept and mine was yesterday.Meaning that his birthday was before mine and he put no effort into mine.

Last year I sort of made a little comment about how gloves were a bit ****, and my gran could've got me them... but he got upset, so this year I pretended I really appreciated the earphones.

I've started my MSc this year and so I planned for months beforehand as I knew I'd be a student again and so I'd have to budget well to take him away.

Thinking of breaking up. We've been together 4 years. But I don't know how to. First relationship, so would appreciate some advice.

10 signs you may be in a emotionally abusive relantionship

  • Thread Starter

No matter how attractive, old or smart a person is, he or she can be a victim of emotional abuse. Here are some signs of an abusive partner or spouse. - See more at: http://ift.tt/1G6MyPZ

Isolates you
Emotionally abusive spouses want you all to themselves. They do not understand that you have a life outside of the relationship - one that includes family and friends. It is healthy and normal for you to hang out with other people as well, so if your partner prevents you from doing so, this may be a sign of an emotionally abusive relationship. - See more at: http://ift.tt/1G6MyQ1

Verbally abusive

If someone calls you derogatory names, even if they say they are joking, they mean to hurt you and keep you in line. Abusers sometimes cover themselves by blaming you, saying that you need to lighten up or that you are too sensitive. You are not too sensitive; you are feeling in your gut that this is not the way you should be treated.
- See more at: http://ift.tt/1wRhnSm

Blames Others

If your significant other always blames everything on someone else, namely you, this may be a bad sign. If he or she throws a tantrum or attacks you verbally, he or she will say it was because of you. It is not a sign of a healthy relationship if your partner never takes responsibility and never admits to being at fault.

Alcohol and drug use

Not all abusers use drugs or drink excessive alcohol, but many do. An addiction can lead to erratic and innappropriate behavior. Substance abuse can be a gateway to emotional abuse and an unhealthy relationship.

Instills fear
If you feel fear around your partner or spouse, there is something very wrong. Abusers may try to intimidate you with violence, dominance or power tactics. For example, intentionally putting you in possibly harmful situations, or showing you their gun collection and stating they are not afraid to use them. - See more at: http://ift.tt/1wRhnSw

Punishes you for time away
This goes along with the isolation technique, where abusers want you all to themselves. If you do go somewhere or do something without your partner, or even if he or she goes along but others are also there, an emotional abuser will punish you later. An abuser may shout, insult, threaten or worse, all because you were not exclusively hanging out with him or her. - See more at: http://ift.tt/1wRhltW

Expects You to Be a Servant

An emotional abuser goes through life feeling entitled to be treated like royalty, and wants you to be a willing servant. He or she expects you to do everything and will not help at all.
- See more at: http://ift.tt/1wRhltY

Is extremely jealous

A prominent trait of abusers is their jealousy. An abusive partner or spouse is often jealous of you, other people and even your dreams and goals. Their jealousy and rage over intangible things like your aspirations stem from the lack of control they feel over those aspects of your life.
- See more at: http://ift.tt/1G6MBeG

Controls you through emotions

An abuser is a grand manipulator and will sulk, threaten to leave, and emotionally punish you for not following their idea of how things should be. An abuser will try to make you feel guilty any time you exert your will and assert what is right for you. At times the abuser may appear to be apologetic and loving; the abuse begins again when the abuser feels he or she has your forgiveness.

Asking a girl out online (facebook)

  • Thread Starter

So I've met this girl at uni a few times, but one of us always seems to be going somewhere so we never have the time to talk properly for more than a few minutes. I think from our interactions that she likes me, but obviously it's difficult to tell from a few meetings.

I was thinking of adding her on facebook and then asking her out for a drink over messaging (Something like 'we keep coming across each other but never get time to talk properly - how about we grab a drink sometime?') Is this a good idea? I doubt I'll bump into her any time soon, which was why I thought I'd do this. But is it better to always ask someone out face to face?

Does everyone regularly think of their exes years later ?

  • Thread Starter

What I mean is, you know when you haven't spoken to an ex in years and you start to wonder if they would even remember you if you bumped into them ?

Is that logic actually ridiculous ?

Why nerds make great boyfriends?

  • Thread Starter

http://ift.tt/1G6MBv5

http://ift.tt/1G6MBv7

In the great wide world of college dating, your guy options are more numerous than ever. Choosing between the jocks, frat boys, hipsters, preps, etc. probably has your head spinning. But amidst the hodgepodge of hunks, be sure not to overlook the often ignored nerds. While they may not be smooth or strapping, nerds make fantastic boyfriends. Here are just some of the reasons why:

  • They're Compassionate: Dorky dudes spend their early years playing the butt of every joke. Since they know how it feels to be hurt, scared, lonely, embarrassed and sad, they're typically more receptive to your emotions and understanding of your problems.
  • They're Genuine: Nerds rarely put on a front: They're usually not guzzling beer to fit in or bed hopping to impress their pals, but rather tend to be open, honest and loyal with the one girl lucky enough to win their favor.
  • They're Tech Savvy: A geeky guy by your side is like having your own personal IT department to help when your computer crashes, phone's stuck on "mute" or iPod will only play the bagpipe song you downloaded last St. Patty's Day.
  • They're Interesting: At some point, talking about "The Jersey Shore" or watching "The Hangover" for the fifth time gets old. Nerds love to learn and can tell you about everything from politics to Panama to podcasts. You'll never be bored and you'll always be out and about, exploring your hood and taking advantage of all it has to offer.
  • They're Laid Back: No need to glam yourself up or spend cash on fancy dinners, nerds are usually homebodies who'd rather share some pizza on the couch than cough up $200 for bottle service at a stuffy club. You alone are enough to satisfy a geek.
  • They're Successful: Steve Jobs. Bill Gates. Mark Zuckerberg. Need I say more?
  • They're Romantic: The number of video games that involve saving a princess then winning her heart have made a lot of dorks hopeless romantics who want nothing more than a girl of their own to "rescue." Thoughtful and chivalrous, geeks treat their women well.
  • They're Good in Bed: While they may not be that experienced, a nerd's love of learning will ensure that they catch on quick and continue to up their skill repertoire.

While the dude with a closet full of LARP costumes may be too much for you, there are plenty of dorks that don't go that extreme. Shift your eyes from the bad boy your mother will hate, toward the shy guy who's acing your calculus class and you may be surprised to find a particularly bling diamond in the rough.

I love this woman, and she indicated she feels the same

  • Thread Starter

But there's a problem. OK, we meet some place. It feels like love at first sight. She comes from a nearby foreign country. I do an online missed connection for her. She says, cut a long story short, that it's not too late for love and that I have been on her mind. But she posts it as a missed connection, not a response to mine. Maybe she doesn't want to reveal her email I thought. Then it goes missing and shortly after I find/reply to it it's deleted. I don't know whether this mean mails to the address of the missed connection get to her, and I tried again but no response. It's tearing me up a little because women are so hard to figure out and it touched me but then she withdrew, I really sensed something and I know it was mutual, I felt this post was to me and was heartfelt. And now it's one of those tormenting could have been things, with someone where I felt like that in such a rare way. What is happening, if any girls can help me, as you may understand her be tter, and what can I do?

What to do with ex ?

  • Thread Starter

Me and my ex girlfriend broke up on bad terms 6 months ago. During the last 4 months of our relationship she got close to another guy who made her a lot happier than i did. I was a bit overprotective and i said a lot of things during our arguments that made her upset. Im quite insecure and during our relationship a lot of the arguments were because of me. Towards the end of our relationship my friends and her friends who attended the same uni as my ex and the guy she was close to told me they thought they were together. I got abit pissy because she had lied to me and had even said she liked another guy during an argument but she later said she lied and said it to hurt me. I really do care about her and i do love her even though she has hurt me a lot in the past. It wasnt all because of me being insecure somethings were her fault too. We broke up on bad terms she changed her number and we both went nc for 6 months until I messaged her to ask her how th ings were. She said she had changed and i could never make her happy but some other guy can. I see the guy shes close with at uni as ive just returned back. I want her to realise ive changed and im not the same as i was before. Ive had a lot of time to realise my mistakes and to become a better person what should i do if shes being cold and saying he makes her more happy than me. I want her back i love her. She blames me for everything. I know she still cares deep inside.

Are control garments on dates deceptive?

  • Thread Starter

There seem to be a lot of adverts for control garments that suppose to keep the bulges at bay.

Is wearing one or more on dates deceptive? I would think if the date or dates are successful, then the other party would be a bit disappointed when they came off revealing the truth.

Why She Will Never Know.

  • Thread Starter

This seems so petty and I know a lot people may think I'm being foolish, but here I go anyway...

I read all these stories of how people suck up there guts and confess to there crushes, it leads me to think how is that even possible? I'm so hopelessly hooked on my crush. I cant stop thinking about her, no matter what I do I think about her all the time and I just dont have it in me to even start a casual conversation with her let alone tell her how I feel.

I'm not usually a sensee-feely sort of person, its gross, I know but bare with me.

I dont even know if she likes me back, I dont know the signs to look for. We spoke last exactly a month ago today on Twitter when she started the conversation. I want to talk to her but I dont know what to talk to her about and also, I dont want to come across as creepy because then she might never talk to me again ever.

Honestly dont know what to do, any help please.
