Need help with handling a 'confession'(?)

So, my classmate, not sure if this person is my friend, just sent me a message saying I like you. Now, this has happened two times before and I'm not sure what I'm going to do, heck I'm not even sure if it's a true confession, just a friendly message or a joke and I'm afraid to answer to avoid awkwardness. This person is someone I consider myself to be close to and I don't want to ruin our relationship by making it awkward. What do I do?

*I've already posted this in everday issues but then I realised that it was a relationship thing so I moved it here, sorry if some considers this a spam.

Shag @ Uni

What do you think about the (relatively) new Shag At Uni web site? Does it foster a healthy sexuality or simply lead to a loosening of morals? Do you use it? Would you?

Falling for a girl who has a boyfriend already

We're friends and have the same circle of friends, we're doing the same subject at uni and therefore see each other nearly every day and often sit near each other/beside each other in lectures. She's in a long-distance relationship (and a pretty serious one at that).

She doesn't flirt with me or anything, she's just a really lovely person and chats to me as a friend, and every time I look at her or talk to her I feel it- I really like her a lot. I know I shouldn't, cos she is already taken, but I can't help it.

What should I do? In my head, there are 3 options-
1. stop talking to her altogether and move on (which would be nearly impossible because we have the same group of friends and I don't want her to guess that I like her)
2. Do nothing, carry on as normal but feel this terrible pain of knowing that she will never be mine.
3. Tell her (which is going to make things very awkward and i'll possibly lose her as a friend) and hope that by some miracle she no longer wants to be with her boyfriend and decides she likes me too (I highly doubt it, but still, I can dream) :(

Meeting up with a guy from Tinder

Anon, because I know people on here and I don't want to admit to using this app.

So I've been speaking to this guy on Tinder for about a week now, we get on pretty well, good banter but also decent general chit chat, he seems nice enough although I don't really know what his intentions are. Anyway, he mentioned meeting up in our messages last night and now I'm not sure how I feel about this. He seems like a decent enough guy, I don't really know what I want from him because I'm not really looking for a relationship or a hook-up, I mainly downloaded the app because I was bored.

I've never been on a first date before or met anyone online, I'm pretty shy in real life and just feel that the whole situation could end up being really awkward or I get there and he thinks I look different from my photos and doesn't actually like me and I end up on of those confessions pages on facebook :p. There's also the problem of a language barrier. I'm on my year abroad at the moment and he doesn't speak English, whilst this has been fine in our messages I just worry that I won't be able to keep up if we met in person.

I don't know what to do, one side of me is slightly curious to meet him, but then I feel a bit weird doing it because I just downloaded the app for fun and had no intention of ever meeting/hooking up with anyone on there. I don't really know what's going on his side and the more I think about it just seems like a bad idea.

Should I meet him or not?

Boyfriend went on night out... On valentine's day

We've only been together about 2 months and I'm not really into valentines day, so when my boyfriend told me he remembered he had tickets to a gig on the 14th Feb I wasn't particularly bothered. We just decided to do something today instead. This morning he text me saying he was out till 4am,and is really hungover. He went on a night out with his friends after the gig. For some reason this really hurt me. Am I being irrational? For the record, my friends went out last night but I decided not to as going to a nightclub on valentines night would just be weird when I have a boyfriend..

Advice please!

Posting here because I don't think the person involved will read it - I'm no longer a student but in a graduate level job....hopefully though someone can shed some light on it!

I am in what I think is a really complicated, and ridiculous, position
and am really not sure what to do any more, as everything I try seems
to escalate matters.

I was good friends with another guy for about 2 years - during the end
of uni and in the first year of our graduate-level job. We would quite
often do stuff together, and would talk quite a lot about most things.

We are both gay men, and this is where the first problem started.
Early last year, I asked him out, and he said no but let's just carry
on being friends. Whilst I was disappointed, I was pleased that we
could still be friends. We'd both started using online dating at the
same time, and I knew I'd find someone in the end.

Things were fine / normal for quite a while - we would chat about the
people we were dating, and when one person he was seeing moved
suddenly to South America, who did he call at 11pm to discuss it? Me.

Anyway, over the summer, I was aware he was dating a new guy. I was
also starting to date somebody. I notices that, whereas we previously
would do things together, this was now less the case. I presumed this
was just because he was seeing somebody and things were still fine,
but I started to get the impression I was being actively avoided.

I'm quite a direct person so I just outright asked (in a message)
whether I'd done anything, to which I was told, equally bluntly, "no".

One day, we were supposed to be going out after work with a group of
friends, but he then said that instead of coming with the group, he
was going to go out with more senior people for a drink. I was quite
surprised about this. The others then cancelled the drinks altogether
so I was leaving the office in a pretty bad mood, as I'd moved things
(including a date) around to accommodate this, which now wasn't
happening. As I was leaving, so was he - he asked whether I wanted to
go with him and the "senior" people, which I didn't, as I didn't get
on with them. He seemed a bit disappointed and said he had been hoping
to catch up, but I now wasn't in the mood and just wanted to go home.
However, a few minutes later, I started to feel guilty about it - I
had been the one trying to catch up with him for so long, and
wondering if something was up, now I was being anti-social and grumpy
for no reason, so I reluctantly phoned him - he waited for me and we
went for drinks with the people I didn't particularly like.

Instead of talking to me, he was clearly trying to impress the senior
people - fine, you have to make an effort, but I wasn't in the mood.
You know the type of evening - you don't like the venue (outside,
busy), the drink, the company, and you start to wonder why you're
there. I probably wasn't giving off "conversational" vibes.

I noticed he had now stopped talking to the senior people and was in
the corner texting. I went over and we had a perfectly fine, if
superficial, conversation. I got the sense neither of us were in the
mood, and I was thinking about leaving. So instead of catching up, it
was a kind of strained conversation. He then said "ooh, my boyfriend
is out tonight and he is next door, he's going to come here." This was
the final straw for me, it embarrasses me to say. I pushed my drink
away and said something like "right, well, I'll just go home after all
then". I left straight away - I got a glimpse of his face, which was,
surprisingly to me, very angry.

We didn't mention this incident as I was annoyed - with myself for
going in the first place and for not being more dignified, and with
him for the general lack of catch up over the last months.

I then started to avoid him, feeling that I was being taken for
granted. In the end, I sent a message saying something like "let me
know when you are free, I think there are a few things we need to
discuss." He didn't, but then out of the blue one day he called me and
asked if I wanted to go to an art gallery and some lunch as it was a
nice day. This surprised me but I did go, and the precious events
weren't mentioned. We had a good day, but I was still confused by this
blowing "hot / cold". We then didn't see each other for a while, so
after about 6 weeks, I asked him whether he was free one weekend for a
coffee - he wasn't. And so it went for over two months - I'd ask maybe
once every other week, and he'd be busy, and not suggest a different
time / day. In the end, I gave up. I asked again whether there was a
problem - he said no. I left it for a month, and then asked again
whether he was free - nope. I then sent him a list of the recent times
I'd asked to meet up in a jokey way and said "you must see why I think
there's an issue - what's going on?" He responded by sending me a
jokey message totally avoiding the question.

I chatted to a mutual friend who said he'd mentioned to the friend
that he was "worried" about me, because of the incident where I had
"stormed out". I immediately sent a more formal message laying
everything out, and just saying that I was going to stop asking, but
wanted to be his friend. - did he. He responded four days later in a
very terse e-mail, saying I had t done anything and that he hadn't
caught up with anybody lately. He then said given I had previously
asked him out, he thought the message was a bit much.

I was really angry because he had repeatedly said everything was fine,
clearly it was far from fine. I didn't know what to do, so I said that
I thought we should meet up to discuss whatever the issue was. I
didn't get a reply.

Eventually, we did meet up - he initially suggested going to a meeting
room at work to have a "quick chat", but I didn't think that this was
appropriate so we stood outside - he was really jokey when he met me,
in a kind of "this is really awkward" kind of way. Anyway, he just
said things had got weird between us, he was in a relationship now and
he thought it best if we didn't see each other at all outside of work
- he wanted to "remain civil" at work. I said that if the issue was he
needed more space then that was fine, but what had I done to warrant
being dumped as a friend. We have a huge circle of friends and it
would be really awkward. He just said I'd been odd, he had blocked me
on FB to "protect" his new partner, and whatever I wanted he couldn't
give me because if I didn't know my behaviour was odd, he couldn't
keep telling me. He didn't look me in the eye, and when I put my side
of the story, he seemed genuinely surprised and started blinking like
he was going to cry. He said "I've decided, I know it's not what you
want but it's for the best."

So it's now four months on, and I am still upset. We are, now,
friendly at work - I initially went into protective mode and just
totally blanked him in meetings to the point where I wouldn't take
directions to the toilet from him. That was a wake up call, because he
was being perfectly normal, all smiles, so I emulated it.

The problem is that I still think about it a lot; our mutual friends
are torn between us, and fundamentally I don't understand what has
happened because he hasn't told me. I definitely don't have feelings
for him, and I've been going out with someone since June last year. My
partner's view is that it's because I asked him out, and he doesn't
trust himself / me not to jeopardise his current relationship. This
surprises me because he dated a few guys after I asked him, and
everything was fine.

So, how do I get closure? And, what the hell went on? And, why am I so
bothered? I say it's because, as a lawyer, I analyse problems and hate
not having a resolution - this, to me, defies logic. And I need
somebody to explain what I did wrong in all of this. Bear in mind we work together, and it's like Jekyll & Hyde - in work he is very friendly (presumably he hates me so it's all fake) - acts the same.

We got on really well, and even since I asked him out, we got on just
the same - no issue. I do trace it back to when he started seeing his
current partner, and I worry that I didn't give him space at first -
totally my fault. I look back and wish I had done things differently.
His best friend has said to me that I am over analysing it and nothing
I did in the summer would have made a difference.

Help, please! What a mess!

"fat" friend..

im not really sure what to do about one of my friends.. she believes shes 'fat' despite not looking like she weighs much more than I do, but she has really big boobs.. she is always going on about how shes fat and how skinny i am, and ive been trying to gain weight for a long time because I dont like how i look. so having her compare herself to me is beginning to get annoying. shes always feeling sorry for herself and i try to be positive and lift her up but she just ignores me and is all "woe is me" about her situation. when theres only so much motivation you can try to give someone until it becomes a drain on you. i try to avoid talking about anything related to weight, but she always manages to steer the conversation that way! i was talking about buying a present for a friend and she somehow managed to turn it into her and her weight.

one night i was feeling low about myself so i decided to talk about it to her, because ive given her a lot of support and tried to be positive and make her feel better. i said i dont like how i look and her response was "shut up" and "cheer up". i felt like this was a bit insensitive when i couldve said the same to her whenever she moans, but i dont. if i did, i know she'd go mental or make out im some sort of bitch, but its okay for her to disregard others when theyre feeling down.

so should i just ignore her, tell her to shut up or continue being positive? because in my opinion shes just beginning to sound pathetic and is fishing for compliments rather than genuinely discussing whats bothering her and trying to change it, she just rejects all suggestions and is like "life is crap it wont get better" etc...

Casually seeing a guy - doesn't respond to last text for a month until I text again

Hi,
So in summer 2013, I was seeing someone for about a month (very intensively) and then, one of us had to move locations so it became a long distance type thing. He did come and see me for a while but then had to go on a long holiday abroad and he said he would definitely contact me, see me, etc. when he got back.
He gets back and no contact for about 2 weeks... I figure that he is busy catching up on work he missed due to his 2 month holiday... I text him casually after 3 weeks to ask how everything was - he said he was just thinking to text me and has been very busy. We send another 2-3 texts and then he doesn't reply... so I leave it and about a month later, he asks if I'm free (kinda ignoring the fact that my last text requires a response) to meet that weekend but then this plans didn't work out as something came up (I don't think it was an excuse as he was the one inviting me)..

Then, he texts me little things that day and apologizes for not being able to meet up. Then, a day of no texts and the day after, we again text for about 3 hours continuously. Then, nothing again for 2 weeks. After that, he then texts again asking if I want to meet up (but this time, I was busy on that day) - he says "aw okay, we can meet up another day I'm sure"..

Then again, nothing for a few days until I initiate a text asking how the seasonal holiday (xmas, new year was) - he replies and we text again for 3-4 texts and then he stops replying yet again (despite me having a question).....

Then, no contact for about a month. I initiate another text with a sort of insult-y joke and he texts back with a bit of banter and then texts me continuously all day (for about 13 hours straight! so I felt reassured that he wasn't just replying to be polite but yet there was no apology for not replying to my last text)...

The thing is, most of our texts are a bit in the nature of 18+ (mainly as I think that's more fun and that seems to be maybe the only reason he responds?) Does that not mean he does like me or just that he's after 1 thing (dirty talk) and a bit of attention... He was coming on very strongly the last time we texted... BUT whilst he was texting me for 13 hours straight, I noticed he liked his ex' selfie pic (despite not liking any of her pics when he was dating her nor after they broke up)

By the way, we have not "done anything" physically which he said was fine and someone broke up with him about a year ago but he says he feels the pain as if it was a recent breakup and he's not properly over it...

I know it's starting to look like he's not into it after all :/

EDIT:// By the way, he knows "going all the way" is off limits for about 2 years at the very least....

Where to meet girls during gap yah?

Hey

I dont use the internet too much but I was lurking around here the past few days. I saw this place has a relationship section so I thought I would make an account and ask my question. Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place.

Im currently on gap year, 19 years old. I live in derby and was brought up in an all boys school so I had no female friends during my school years.

Now that I am on a gap and am working I have met a few females although they are a bit older than I am, not many are at a similar age.

My problem is I have no clue as to where to meet girls. Doesnt have to be for a relationship, can be for just friendship.

Im a very sociable person and can make friends with pretty much anyone and am known to be very friendly, confident and extroverted. I have many friends but they are all mainly guys.

Any advice/tips?

Thank you

Guy calls me "boo" over text. What's that mean?

I've been hurt by guys before
-This guy kisses me
-I thought we were FWB but he said he considers himself a 'one girl' kinda guy
-He called me "darling" on facebook on a public post
-And, I came over today and told him I needed a hug, bad week, he kissed me, hugged me really hard, then kissed my neck.
-Today, (neither of us celebrate valentine's because we've gone through pain), I texted him happy 14th of feb, and he texted back 'happy valentine's day boo :)

What are signs guy is getting attached?
