Advice please...

Hello everyone, I am new to this so bare with me please. I will try to make this as brief as possible.

Been with my husband for almost 10 years (married for 5 years). He has 2 kids (2 baby mama) and I have none. He cheated on me for 2 years in the beginning, I forgave him and got married 3 years after. I have never cheated or given him any reason to think I was cheating. We are both cops and work the same department.

Ok, so theres a few problems in our relationship. First of all, being a step parent is not easy. I am always the bad one (discipliner) and he is always the "friend" to the kids. He lets his kids walk all over him and buys them anything they want. The short of it is that I have no relationship with the kids (13 and 14 years old) because I have always been the "hammer" and the one to say no.

Now on to the next problem. He is very jealous and insecure. Ok, I am a female cop and of course most of my co workers are males. I had a male partner a couple years ago and he made me choose between him or my partner. My husband even went as far as to call my partner up to ask him why he texts me so much. I was so embarrassed. You guys should know that there had never been a time where the texts were flirtatious or even came close to any signs of cheating. Anyway, I chose my husband and lost my partner. I couldn't even (and still can't) text or talk to my old partner. There was nothing going on, strictly good friends.

Fast forward a couple of years..... So, I have another male friend in the department and we partnered up together last year. This partner is married with 3 kids and has actually talked to my husband before. This partner has done nothing to make my husband or anyone believe that he wants more than just a partnership. Again, same thing. My husband got upset and wanted me to end my friendship/partnership with this coworker. My husband went through my phone every day to check my text messages between my partner and I. Again, nothing flirtatious, no signs of cheating. This partner has even asked me to ask my husband to go out together to make him feel more comfortable. I've asked many times and my husband refused.

**Keep in mind that we've had other problems with his insecurities, parenting issues, and his spending over the years.

I told him I wasn't going to end my partnership with this male friend because I did that before and I ended up losing a very good friend. I also told him I was unwilling to base my job around his insecurities for the next 25 years of my career. He finally excepted it and dealt with it. Unfortunately, the partnership only lasted 3 months due to our department biding. I got moved to another part of the city in the beginning of this year (Im sure my husband was jumping for joy inside).

Last night, my husband got mad at me because he looked through my phone and saw that I was still talking and texting my old partner. We're friends.. I cant have friends?? I knew he would do this and could've erased the conversation but didn't because theres nothing to hide. Of course, like always he gave me the cold shoulders all night and ignored me because he was mad at me. I spoke very calmly to him (because I'm to the point where I don't want to argue about this anymore) and asked him to talk to me like an adult. He refused and went to bed (like he does all the time, and ignores for days). I feel so disrespected when he does this. I told him he should really think about what he wants because he has everything right in front of him and it would be a shame if he lost everything due to his insecurities and stubbornness.

And this is just an FYI: We have been trying to have a baby for 5 years and it hasn't happened. Both got checked early last year and we are both fine. Due to the "problems" in our relationship I didn't think bringing a baby into this world was the best thing to do, so I held off and put that motion aside last year. Just the other day, we had the "baby conversation" again and I decided to go back to the OB to see what was going on. I told him that if he was serious about this, I needed him to be 100% if I am going to be 100%. He agreed and said he was ready.

Really???? Every time I think I want to move forward with him, he always gives me a reason not to. Im 32, he's 43. I have no extra baggage, he has a lot. I do want a baby, but am I suppose to wait until the day he comes around??? I'm not a saint by any means and their are always 2 sides to the story, but believe me, this has been my life for the last 10 years.

So am I being unreasonable or is he?? Sorry, I tried my best to keep it short but it didn't really work. PLEASE HELP....

Text Message Responses

I texted my separated wife this morning and It has been over an hour and a half with no response.

I'm pretty sure she received my text message, when I'm over at the house she is attached to her phone or computer.

I typically go to the house on Saturdays, but she mentioned on Thursday she was going to take my son to the beach.

I texted her stating that i would like to come, but i understand if she felt it was confusion or uncomfortable and if i could stop by later in the evening.

Is it wrong to compare lack of sex to lack of helping out?

Would like to pick men's brains for a bit. I will start of by saying I don't believe in withholding sex for long periods of times all in the name of revenge. However, there have been times ( not consecutively) where I have declined sex bc I felt like I was being taken for granted.

Example, my hubby wants it when he wants it. Take a Saturday for instance. He doesn't really like doing kid oriented things, but I like my kids to have childhood memories, so I will do things like take them to the park or to the movies, while he sits at home. I will also go to the store, clean up, and cook meals while he watches tv or sits in front of the computer. If I'm tired bc I'm doing everything by myself and I say no to sex, I'm not meeting his needs, and I hear about it.Sometimes I will say yes to please him. Sometimes I get into it, sometimes not, especially if he was moody that day. When I bring up the comparisons, how my needs being met are just as important,he discounts it. In so many words the two don't compare. What are your thoughts?

How often does your hubby cook or clean?

Is it too much to expect that a husband pitch in once in awhile? Not even every day, I would be happy with him preparing a meal or cleaning something once every two weeks. He does his own laundry, will take plates or glasses from our room to the kitchen sink, but that's the extent of it. Every few months I'll ask him to clean the toilet or something and he does, but why do I need to ask? Just something else that's been bugging me lately!

Acceptance can bring peace?

I will call this the last of my trilogy threads, the first being "Should Marriage come first" & the second, "Men being the sole initiators". I have found that sometimes there is no answer except acceptance for what you have and find peace with it. It may never bring you the happiness that you had hoped for, but you're not miserable either.
If you've read my other threads, you have a pretty good idea of my situation, no romance, vanilla sex life & no quality time, all life centered around daughter/granddaughter.
When you try absolutely everything, beat your head against the wall, go through numerous emotions, heartbreak, disappointment, resentment, frustration, the list goes on, you finally get to a point where you wave the white flag.
I had thought about possibly divorcing again, a few years a go when I was going through the "miserable" phase, but I pushed through and found contentment. I really should have called it quits 5 years a go, before we bought our recent home, but it's water under the bridge now.
I think if there is physical abuse or if you are just massively unhappy, then divorce is probably the best option. But if you are still relatively happy with things, then divorce just equals a lone and more financial headaches. I would have no interest in trying for #3, I'm 50 years old, that time is past, so I would gain absolutely nothing.
I still try, but not as hard and not obsessive, because I don't want to enter the disappointment phase again. By now I've pretty much got things figured out.
One of the many books that I've read "Too Bad to Stay & Too Good to Leave", showed me that my good outweigh my bad. It's a great book to help you decide if you really have it that bad?

My partner started taking trenbolone..HELP!

I started seeing a guy and everything was all good. We were about to get physical in the bedroom & he went soft on me! I put it down to having a few too many drinks but it still made me feel low and undesirable. He said it wasn't me and then admitted that he had just come off a 10 week cycle of Trenbolone ,Test an something else which I cant remember the name of! and he hadn't had his HCG shot when he came off the cycle. He also told me that for the past few days ,he hasn't had any sex drive whatsoever.
We left it at that and carried on seeing each other . He told me a week or so later that he was starting to see his sex drive creep back up and in the mornings he was getting erect ad staying erect for long periods of time so I thought everything would be fine. During the second sexual encounter, he was getting erect but as soon as I tried anything,he went soft. For this to happen a second time, I felt it was my technique and it hasreally affected my self esteem. I feel that he doesn't find me attractive anymore-even though he always tells me im beautiful.
As time has gone on he has told me to forget about him and get on with my life and then a few days later he says he wants me back & im his world & he loves me. He has done this twice now and I feel scared to show any signs of love/emotion,in case he pushes me away.I have Very distant with him, and he has to be fair, made an effort texting me nice messages to wake up to. I made an effort to swap shifts with a friend so i could go to his city to see him for a few days. On the day of my expected arrival, he messages me to say he will 'see me after the weekend as he has a lot on his mind and needs space' that hurt me the most that he couldn't even call me to tell me. When I confronted him and said 'this is the last time you play with my emotions,I cant do this anymore' He replied with 'I just woke up and realised I didn't want to see you today. I am starting to feel back to normal and I'am seeing things as a bigger picture and I don't like it. I think you are speaking to other males and that is why you haven't been showing me any interest in the past week. You don't give a sh*t about me.' I tried to explain that I feel scared to show emotion as he has pushed me away and im afraid he will do it again. I also explained that I have not been speaking to any other males as I see potential in me & him and told 'other males' when we decided to become serious that I was off the market. He is adamant that I have somebody else and said ' I have wasted my time wth you and you have wasted my time.Your making me feel sick'
I feel so hurt and at the same time; annoyed. I don't know whether this is the side effects of his cycle as he only came off the cycle at the beginning of January. Or is this true feelings coming out?

Do you think i made the right decision ignoring the texts? Feeling really gutted

  • Thread Starter

A couple of months ago my husband and i separated. During this time i had met another guy that i started to have feelings for. The timing wasn't the best, but i really liked him and we continued to talk. He sent many mixed messages that had me confused, especially in my current state with feeling lots of emotions from the separation. I was so very relieved when my husband and i split as i had been unhappy for so long, but moving out and everything was still not easy.

We continued to talk for a while, and this guy seemed very interested in me. I started to feel like he could offer me everything i had lacked with my husband for so long. After a few dates, he started acting very distant and told me he had no interest in a relationship and just wanted to be friends. He said he found me attractive, wouldn't mind being physical, enjoyed my company, and really liked me as a friend and wanted to continue our friendship. Another thing that confused me after saying all this is he would get jealous of other guy friends i had which i never really understood. After thinking that this guy was just after a fwb and confiding in a male friend of mine about this guy and how i felt confused of his behavior if he only wanted to be friends (flirting still, complimenting me, getting jealous over other guys), he told me the only real way i would know if he had any feelings about me and was for some strange reason lying to himself (although doubtful), or wanting to know if he really was just using friendship with me as a way to sleep with me, the best thing would be distance myself to see what his real feelings were.

On Monday he sent me some messages through Facebook messenger (this is how we usually communicate), and i read them but never responded. This was in the morning (i would say around 11am). It got to about midnight and i just happened to update my status, and he just messaged me going into one. He said i was being rude and clearly was ignoring him and he said i was being a d*** to him. He then said this means we are done so goodbye, and with that he defriended me. I couldn't actually believe he got that mad about me not replying to him, especially as he has gone a whole weekend before not saying anything. I sent him a message saying "are you actually serious?" and he came back just saying he was just over my randomness.

Being the idiot i am i continued to talk to him through messenger and told him i was sorry that he felt i was purposely ignoring him. I told him i was just sick of him telling me he didn't want a romantic relationship with me, but he constantly complimented me on how perfect i was as a girl, flirting with me, even at one point listing all the things he loved about me. I just thought to myself friends need to set some boundaries, and doing all those things is not right. I said to him "would you be interested in fwb?" to which he replied "hell yeah."

With that i just decided that is all he wanted after insisting it wasn't for so long, and constantly playing games and with my emotions for months and i couldn't be bothered with at all anymore, so i blocked him. I was pretty surprised he just admitted it like that. Maybe he thought i was asking as that is what i wanted. My guy friend told me he guaranteed because i just blocked him without an explanation he would contact me some other way to ask what happened, and he sort of did. He text me saying "Oh you blocked me, and you tricked me into saying i wanted a fwb to confirm to yourself i wasn't a very nice person, i didn't know you were capable of being so deceitful." I ignored it and never replied. My guy friend told me he thought that he was basically just telling me i tricked myself into believing that was what he wanted but it wasn't, and that i probably wouldn't hear from him ever again. 4 hours later, i got a text message that said "babe." I ignored that too and then there was a day of silence. I was convinced he had given up only to get a message Thursday morning that said "are you still not talking to me?"

Do you think i am doing the right thing not responding to these messages? This guy played with my emotions which isn't really what friends do to friends. He told me he had no desire for a romantic relationship with me because he didn't think we were each others types. We know he wouldn't have minded sleeping with me, but i basically figured out his intentions and blocked him basically revealing to him that i would never do that and didn't want to talk. I really did fall hard for this guy. I am not sure if it was because he was the first guy that i liked after my marriage failed, but i do not know why continued to reach out. It is so hard not to respond back either. I am wondering if the last text was confirmation to himself that i was really gone and he won't try again? I just feel totally gutted. I thought this guy could have possibly been the one for me after my bad marriage, only for it to end badly too.

Nervous, scared, bringing up the "d" word today.

You can read over my previous posts to catch up, but I would like suggestions. Usually when we talk about our issues, I try to make it sweet as possible and choose my words carefully so he wont blow up on me, plus I don't like hurting his feelings.

I'm going to be Real tonight ( not sugar coat)once the kids are in bed and we can focus on each other. He's anti divorce and still madly in love with me, but it pains me to say... I'm not madly in love with him. I've been living on reserves from that of yesterday. I try to forget about it, and accept this as my fate, but every few months I come back to "something's gotta give". I don't want to divorce, but if he doesn't agree to counseling or change for the good and not just a week, I'm telling him I want a divorce! This is gonna be so hard for me to say.

Also if we do end up getting a divorce, it will come as a shock to EVERYONE. Nobody knows our issues, and many of our friends think we have a perfect marriage. Public opionion and a broken home scares me just as much too:(

Friend is hitting on me?

  • Thread Starter

I have this online friend, and we both know each other very well, and talk to eachother a lot. He is currently in a relationship with someone else, but quite often he is very suggestive in his messaging and types out sexual actions towards me. Usually i play along, but not so comfortable with it as i know he is with someone and because i've never really been with anyone. I can't just say 'lol are you hitting on me?' because we've known eachother for very long and i just feel like it is too direct. How do i know if he's unhappy with his relationship or just playing?

Is sexuality private

  • Thread Starter

Now I don't really adhere to the whole binary labelling so i just refer to myself as queer (this is for a bit of background)
When you actually think about it, sexuality is a really personal thing and coming out is basically having to tell others very intimate feelings about yourself, i think even more so for bi/pansexual people. What do you think? do you think your sexual preference should be of anyone else's concern? and if not, what circumstances may it be e.g pride march etc
