Hi everyone! I am desperately in need of some advice. Me and my boyfriend have been dating for about a year and a half now, but have known each other for about 8 years. We started out as friends, our families know each other and we have the same values. He has been working offshore for about 3 years. Things have been a bit tough lately, as he doesn't have a schedule, he finds out he has to go work a week in advance and then sometimes has to work for months (max 3) at a time.
The last time he went away I started my own business, of which he was very supportive. But now he is feeling guilty for not being able to support me. The long distance thing is really difficult for him because he can't be with me. But he also doesn't want to change his chosen career path as he really enjoys working offshore. Sorry if I'm coming over all confused. I think I might just be looking for some encouragement, as I am feeling a little bit hopeless at the moment. I love him with my whole heart, but there is no one in the community that I live who has the same type of relationship, so no support for either of us, leaving us both feeling a little hopeless and a lot frustrated. Any advice would be appreciated!!
