I'm a first year, who has recently moved into a large 6 bedroom student house.
Almost as soon as we had paid the desposit my estate agent began calling me everyday; these phone call normally consisted of information about the house but, they also included him talking about his day and how was work was going. About a week ago we ( my housemates and I) moved into the house. As a naturally organised person I was put in charge of all the communication between the estate agent and the house, this meant going into the estate agents offices to fill in forms ect. Thus me and my estate agent had regular email conversations, however he would often steer these emails away from house business, asking me how uni was going and if I had been out to any pubs. Then last night he told me that he finished at 5 and would be at a local pub, hinting (pretty bluntly) that I should meet him. When I ignored the advance he began telling me how "sexy" I was. I mentioned that it would be a conflict of interest and that it was inappropriate however he said he didn't care. About an hour later he called and said he was by the house and asked if he could come in. I was abit surprised considering that he lives 45 minutes away from where our house is and so obviously I said no. My housemates however, who knew everything, texted him back on my phone and said that he could come in. Two hours and a bottle of jägermister later his advances included repeatedly trying to kiss me, putting his arm around my waist, grabbing my bum, and asking if he could 'see' my room. My house were going out a club that night so we suggested that he should go home when we were calling a taxi. He was really drunk and we were all abit worried about how he was going to get home, however I didn't feel comfortable letting him stay in the spare room that night.
The estate agent is 30 years old and in charge of all the student lets managed by the agency, and as he did mention last night, he is in charge of how much of our desposit we get back, our references, fixing things that goes wrong, as well as overseeing the general management ie complaints and damage to the property. As he currently likes me he has suggested that he would be happy to overlook any small damage to the property as well securing the best property next year for us, I'm alittle worried what is going to happen if I tell him I'm not interested in him. My housemates have found the situation funny as he has been pretty persistent and also they can only see the benefits.... I'm sure what he has been doing is against company policy and is definitely deemed inappropriate. I'm not sure the best way to stop the advancements yet stay on good terms. Any suggestions?
