Got to thinking about this in another thread and decided to start a new one so as not to hijack.
Here's my thought: generally speaking, we are more comfortable with a sex rank mismatch when the higher ranking partner is female. If a guy is a 7 and his woman is an 8 or a 9, I think it's typical for people to say to themselves, "He must be a great guy! Look who he is with!).
If the mismatch goes the other way, though, it feels odd. Off.
