My wifee and I own a townhouse and live in a strata complex and the area is ideal for everything.
There are 3 old single and divorced ladies (59 - 65 years old) that have lived here the longest and been on the strata council the longest.
They have broken the most strata and city by laws, don't lead by example, never lift a finger for this complex, never help anyone, and feel they don't have to tell anyone what's going on here, so for the most part they don't and you have to ask them, but are paying monthly strata fees.
When caught breaking obvious strata and city by laws, they are more angry they were caught and have to comply than anything. If one or two of them break the by laws, the other 1 or two say nothing.
They ignored our sidewalk for snow removal for 3 years because they didn't want to hire someone and they didn't want to lift a finger either, yet they have 2 shovels in their carports.
They work 4 day weeks and part time jobs and have lots of time to go out and holidays.
Whenever they say they're going to do something, its usually years later before it gets done and then no one is told in the complex when the contractor is coming to do the job. You just see a contractor one day.
Most of their contractors are crap, being cheap is more important to them I guess and jobs have to be repaired.
They finally decided to hire a strata management company and this guy is no better than they are. They don't listen to others advice, work experiences, even if they offer to pay for jobs and help out. They have pruned and cut down trees without informing the effected owners in our complex, which results in angry owners.
They won't oil the BFI bin lock or get lockable recycling totes, eliminating dumpster divers because its inconvenient to them and they aren't the closest to the totes and bin.
One minute they tell renters its okay to have their large female dog, but the strata complex for pets states small pets only. Then they warn and fine the renters numerous times for the lawn damages, make them repair the lawn and the renters left.
We are told nothing is to go on the common asphalt areas but one strata council member has table, chairs and potted plants and the other members say nothing. If anyone else did this, you can't put that there would be the answer.
One council member left her old garbage bbq on the city sidewalk in front of our neighboring strata complex with a free sign and told no one. This complex got mad, put the bbq in front of our entrance way the next day. This is an obvious city by law she was ignoring but if anyone else asked them, they would be told, go to the landfill or nearby recycling depots. She got mad she couldn't leave it there.
This management company told everyone here we are getting new roofs for Spring / Summer 2014. Then in October 2013, they started work and no one was told anything. Then they only finished 60% of the complex and stopped. I talked to the head contractor and he said he hasn't been paid in full yet. Maybe finish the rest of the complex in March 2014. No one in the complex told anything and materials left in a visitor stall.
They cut down a council members sumac tree because it died. The reason it died was the council members gave this council member a gravel and underlay job for her sumac tree which starved and killed it. No one told anything. They this management company cuts it down and doesn't drill out the stump, leading to asphalt damages for the nearby Units. Then they cut down the neighboring Unit's sumac tree and told them nothing. The owners are still very angry at the privacy loss. Now there are plans to replace the complex asphalt in 2014 because of the cracks from the roots but the roof isn't even finished yet.
And the list goes on and on and on.......
Every time I see obvious strata and city by laws being broken and ignored by the old ladies here, I notify the strata management company because the entire complex would be affected.
Are all ladies like this or just the ones in our complex? Does being single and divorced for a long time make them crazy as they get older?
