Does playing hard to get work?

The guy I like is really playing it cool. I mean I know that he may not like me. But I really do think he is playing games. I'm always the first to text and he will reply with short answers and always pretend to be busy when I know he's not. Sad thing is even though I know he's probably doing this it still makes me want him
