Is this an unacceptable way to approach a woman at work?

Hello

I started a new job about a month ago.

My company occupies one floor of a building.

At lunch we share the canteen/lunch hall/eating area (whatever you want to call it) with other companies.

There is a nice girl about my age (mid 20s) who I see most days. She comes in with a packed lunch and sits on her own broesing her iphone whilst eating. I find her nice looking, not drop dead gorgeous but just nice. I dont know what company she works for.

She doesnt know I exist, weve never spoken.

She is usually always alone. I am alone quite often too. It is a quiet canteen. She seems quite quiet/reserved.

I am very shy, Ive never had a gf before and have no clue about dating etc. I made this thread a few months back... http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=2415713

My question is this:

Would I be completely out of order to go over and speak to her/introduce myself/''approach'' her during lunch? (with a view to maybe getting her phone number one day, getting her to be my gf one day)

Or would I be invading her privacy? Would I be out of order?

Generally approaching a woman in a lunch hall is unheard of.

I dont go to bars or clubs, hence I have no opportunities to meet potential gf's

Thanks for any advice
