Is he coming round to the idea?

So, I met this gorgeous guy last Jan at a uni society meeting. I thought he was brilliant as soon as we began talking. We started to chat a lot on fb and occasionally when we bumped into one another in person. His course finished and I had another 2 years left. We now live quite a distance from one another. About 6 months ago he came to stay with me for a long weekend... it was so nice, we got on really well and just chilled out together. I asked him what he was thinking about us and he told me that he doesn't really do commitment, wasn't sure where his life was going atm, but really liked me. I was a little sad and tried to cut down on contact after this. another few months pass with barely any contact then he pops back up again and we began texting, fbing most day pretty much throughout the day. He came to stay again and this time things were different. It started off as " a bit of fun" but 2 days in, he suddenly became really affectionate, always holding my hand when we were out, putting his arms round me, insisting on paying for things, telling me really private things about himself, complementing me, obsessively trying to make m parents like him... then on the last night he told me he'd love to come back again soon and spend more time with me here. Since he's been home the communication has increased! I don't want to ask him outright, as i have a feeling it would scare him off, it's still early on, but does this sound promising? sorry its long xx
