Are people really that different in person than online?

Hey, I met someone online 1 week ago. We've spoke once over webcam but the majority of our talking has been through typing and voice communication only (due to problems with my laptop overheating when I use webcam).

We get on really well and can talk endlessly (see this thread :o ) but i woke up this morning with these horrible doubts, what if things are just not the same in person? What if one of us loses interest?

I've met people in person that i've met online before after talking for ages - but that was only through typing to eachother, no voice communication or webcam and yes they have been different than expected. Often in a bad way. But are people really that different in person than when you have communicated to them by voice and maybe webcam? For better or for worse? Though I find it hard to believe it could be better in this case. Would be great if people with experience could give advice !
