I like someone I work with

Should I tell him I like him or get to know him better first? Or does the saying 'never dip your nib in the office ink' ring true here? Sometimes he gives off the impression he likes me back. He touches me and he doesn't really touch other girls. Not on the bum or anything, but sometimes he'll put his hands on either side of my face and smile for a second. Whenever we are standing next to each other he'll do that thing where he'll look over at me and when I look back to smile he'll quickly turn in the other direction. Either way, I think he's pretty awesome and I like him a lot. We work on different floors so technically it might not be too awkward if I get knocked back since I won't really have to see him. However the company I work for is a small/medium size company (about 200 employees), and everyone knows everyone so it might not be too hard for others to find out. I suppose what adds another layer of complication is that I used to be in a relationship with the owner of the company's son. We broke up about 6 months ago but sometimes I'm still known as so-and-so's ex. What should I do? On the one hand I look forward to coming into work as I get to see him often but on the other hand it's quite agonising liking him but nothing coming of it. Do you have any experiences of liking someone you work with?
