Are guys forgetting Vday lazy or forgetful?

My flatmate's very upset. She paid for a ticket via plane to visit her boyfriend in a month. Today, he didn't e-mail or text or say anything about Valentine's and they've dated since early January. He's genuinely a sweet guy, kind of nerdy in a good way but my flatmate feels gutted and totally forgotten and trying to work on homework blinking back tears. She and he cried when he said goodbye at the airport weeks ago. Could he have genuinely forgotten? It's 12 noon and she texted him 'happy valentines' Her ex lied to her and told her he'd write love letters when he never did. Are guys all just really really lazy liars?
