Can we discuss "Autoimmune" disorders? WTH???

Ok folks... most of you who know me know that I am pretty much a fitness and health fanatic (with the exception of a "healthy" affinity for occasional quality vodka and quality Bloody Mary's) -- *note...I blame this on CharlieParker*

All joking aside... I eat super-clean and have been gluten free (after extensive celiac testing) for almost 10 years. I sleep 8-10 hours per night. I am not under tremendous stress. I walk 4 miles per day at a nice, relaxed pace (no more power walking). I listen to meditative tapes and practice yoga several times per week. I do not have a stressful job.

YET... I have been feeling like absolute CR*P lately!!

I even write a semi-syndicated health and wellness blog. I know the science behind good health. But folks, it ain't working at the moment.

I was recently diagnosed via biopsy with TWO autoimmune skin disorders (lichen planus and lichen sclerosis). My doc thinks I have low thyroid and likely Hashimoto's disease (autoimmune problem where your body attacks its own thyroid), leaky gut syndrome (otherwise known as irregular intestinal permeability) along with my life-long eczema and mild rosacea.

I have done elimination diets in the past, but am getting ready to start the "Autoimmune Protocol Diet"... basically you live on Kale and Kefir...

On the outside I am strong, healthy and fit (see my album pic). On the inside, my body is attacking itself!!!

:wtf:

Anyone else going through this?
