This has been bothering me for some time and I'm wondering if this is a phase some girls (or boys) go through at that age or is it something to be alarmed. I'm saying this because the only meanest thing I've ever done was taking out a bug's wing at age 5 but out of curiosity or step on a couple ants. However, I think at the age of 10 someone already knows better.
My neighbor kid is a 10 year-old girl who always smiles after hurting a small animal.
I've seen her run over a large frog, killing it with her bike (then laughing afterwards), throwing cold water and ice cubes at a cat and recently tried to bury an injured pigeon alive but I stopped her and called the vet.
What she told me sounded kind of creepy. She said something like ''It wouldn't have felt anything, it was already too injured'' and was again smiling.

Put the internet to work for you.
