So trust in relationships come up quite a lot - the idea seems to be if you begin a relationship with someone you trust them automatically, and if you don;t you may as well break up. I find this absurd, frankly.
I feel that trust is earned rather than freely given. Why should you trust someone as soon as you begin a relationship - on what basis? And it's not that you should question their character by assuming they'll do the wrong thing - you don't THINK they will, but why are you supposed to be sure?
The way I see it, it's the same way that you probably wouldn't give a partner your pin number until way into an established relationship. It's not that you think they'll steal your money, you just haven't given them that trust yet.
So yes, I feel that there's nothing wrong with not fully trusting someone, being wary of suspicious circumstances etc, because I believe trust is earned. If someone is open, honest and loyal for a long time to me they will gain my trust and I will never question their motives.
Opinions?
