Do people in the suburbs have get together where people in the subdivision come?

A bit of a strange question.Do people in the suburbs have get togethers where many people from the same subdivision come over a person's house,and eat food,socialize,etc?My wife and I don't have a relationship with a single person who lives in our subdivision.We speak and wave to our neighbors,but thats it.I remember growing up you had maybe 4-8 different houses in the subdivisions that people went to,and everybody in the neighborhood knew the other people.I don't see that now.Only on desperate housewives,lol.Do people have relationships with several people in the subdivision or have get togethers where people from the neighborhood come?
