DH and I just got into a fight because we're looking at plane tickets to see my parents for Thanksgiving. His family is all abroad, so he is going to see them for xmas week and I am meeting up with them for the following week after spending xmas with my family here in the US. I spent $2k on this trip to see his family after xmas and will be counting pennies for the rest of this month.
Now he and I are looking at flights to see my parents--a 1 hour flight away--for Thanksgiving and he is complaining that he has to make a 45-min stopover, and suggesting that he arrive Thursday night and leave Saturday morning so that he can pay $250 instead of $300. He claims he's trying to compromise but then suggests a 5am Sunday flight, meaning my Dad would have to get up at 3am to drive him, and he sees no issues with that.
I told him point blank that it is important to me that he spend time with my family and that it be more than 36 hours (he always refuses to use his vacation days to see my family), but he got all hot headed and upset. I have visited my parents a lot this year and he has only accompanied me once, for a long weekend. It really hurts me that he is complaining about a $50 increase to spend 3 days with them when I just shelled out $2k to see his family. This is an ongoing issue in our 5 year marriage and I wish I could just get rid of it!!!!!
