Why Is It Seen As Cool For Girls To Be Rude/Vulgar These Days?

  • Thread Starter

Guys too ("lad" culture) but it's increased more for girls. My cousin has started behaving like this (she's 18, a bit younger than me) and TBH I don't want to speak to her any more. And yes I'm a girl too.

Girls (even those at uni age/just out of uni) praise each other for being "sassy," "fierce" and "edgy" when in reality they just sound like overspoiled, bratty little madams who would soon be put in their place in a real workplace (though I did work experience at a small company after graduating and there was the odd 20something like this too). "Throwing shade" is just a glorified way of saying that you have no manners.

I'm not saying we should go back to the 50s but what happened to manners for girls? (and again before anyone says I'm sexist, I sure know my share of guys around the same age who behave in that way, but that's been around for longer IMO because even a few decades ago there was always "lad culture").
