Forever alone. These words are echoed too often by people of our age. Many of us are young, single, and completely hopeless at dating. We feel awkward or shy around those we have a crush on, and as such we have never had a romantic experience in our life.
These feelings of loneliness only increase as we get older. Those around us, our friends, all have partners, all have had sex, and their experiences just make you feel even worse. These feelings contribute to a lack of self confidence with dating as you know the other may well be experienced and the cycle continues. It's something that most others will never truly understand.
Let's change that :) We need to realise that there are many others out there like us and they come from all walks of life. Are you
* 18 to 22 years old (University age)?
* Forever alone - aka never been in a romantic situation before?
* Socially awkward?
You're perfect! My proposal is this: Let's build our confidence by getting a small group of us together and meeting for a day out somewhere convenient where we can be awkward together! We'll randomly divide ourselves into lover pairs on the day and roleplay some romantic situations (see below!). This may sound cheesey and cute, but by gaining experience hanging out with those who we are normally too shy to even approach, some of the barriers causing this shyness can be removed, allowing for a more successful and happier future. It doesn't matter what your background is - this is mostly a blind meetup. We all have something in common and we can all work towards making our lives better! We'll keep this day light and a bit of fun. Nothing serious and we'll get a good laugh out of it. A positive experience to help boost confidence.
Possible stuff to try in our pairs:
* Hug - The most obvious one of all. Everyone needs to experience a hug :)
* Arms around each other's shoulders and stare longingly into each other's eyes for a few seconds.
* Walk along the street holding hands ;)
* Maybe go and see a movie together?
* Watch the sunset together in a quiet location.
* End the day with a kiss? ^^
More ideas are welcome!
As for the meeting location, London seems like the obvious choice as it's central. But to me and I bet many of you, being an introvert in such a busy city may not appeal entirely. However, there are loads of quiet towns that can be reached via a short train journey from London. One of these towns may serve a better purpose.
Who would be up for such a meeting? Only the most lonely of us please, so we know everyone has the same background. We'll try to make this a thing next month if people are interested :)
Put the internet to work for you.
