Guys and gals, do any of you have any tips to boost self confidence?

So I like this guy but I have no self confidence whatsoever. As in, I won't go out in shorts in summer really.
Any tips on how to become more out going? Also, guys, what do you look for in a girl, appearance and personality wise? :3
