After a mostly amicable relationship with my in laws, with occasional passive aggression on their part, I think I've reached my limit. I recently took in a family member who has fallen on hard times, that person was homeless and needed refuge from the freezing cold. My husband agreed to it and I thought he didn't mind doing a good deed.
Little did I know, he has been complaining to my in laws about said family member, making up stories about things my family member is doing while staying in our home. This person has been with us for one week and will secure a room in someone's house within the next four days.
My in laws got involved and told me that my family member had to leave NOW. They said they wouldn't stand for it and that I had to kick the person out of my house.
WTF is this? They don't pay my rent, my bills, or put food on my table. Who are they to dictate what happens in my home? My husband is just being a whiny, self-centered little boy who is incapable of feeling compassion (runs in the family).
I'm debating cutting them out of my life, and with Christmas coming up, I am considering sending my husband to spend time with them and I will stay home and enjoy my time alone.
What do you guys think?
