I am trying to be a little vague cause this is the internet, but here is the gist.
When the problem happened, we had been together 9 years, married 6. Hubby and family always got along fine, though they did not like his complaining nature over his job. They also thought he was too quiet and hard to talk to. He is a nice,quiet guy. He has never put his foot down like this before...things usually slide with him.
Hubby was fired (he has never been, it was shocking cause he is a very hard worker. He was caught looking for another job by boss) and my parents were visiting while it happened. HUbby was explaining the situation saying he should not have been fired, but my parents said they would have fired his ass.
Hubby was upset they would say that to a family member. After several months of asking parents to just apologize and they would not, my mom went to apologize because I asked. Hubby was not accepting of the apology. My mom thought he was very rude to her, but he just rose his voice when speaking to her about what he was talking about. He is a very calm guy, so it was a surprise. He was very hurt by what they said and now she hurt by him.
My dad refuses to apologize cause hubs was rude to my mom and well, he would never apologize to anyone.
This makes it very hard on me. Husband won't be around my parents ever again. Parents won't make it right by saying hey man we are sorry to hurt family like that and don't understand why they should even truly apologize. I understand hubby's side, but it's stressful on me. I have done and encouraged in every way that I can for him to move past it. No luck. Anyone dealt with anything like this? Advice?
