Has anyone had laser eye surgery/LASIK?
I have a terribly weird prescription that is only getting worse with age. I am nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other, and have really bad astigmatism in both. I've tried 3 different types of contact lenses (a while ago) and couldn't tolerate any of them. I felt like I had morning sickness with all of them. I gave up and wear my glasses sporadically, only when I really need them (i.e. driving at night, seeing computer, watching TV). I can't recognize people in the grocery story if I don't have my glasses on, which is both embarrassing and a blessing since I have an identical twin in my area, so I have a good excuse for not remembering people I've met through her (oh, i didn't even see you, i'm sorry!) . Within the last six months I've noticed I also am having trouble reading. Ugh. I'm 42. I bought reading glasses, and they help, but they are never near my person to actually use them when I need them.
I have my annual check-up tomorrow. I'll ask her for referrals to good practices for consultations. But, does anyone have any advice for what to look for, not to look for, what to expect, how to get the best price, etc.?
