More specifically, how to deliver (and take) criticism without coming across as judgemental and just plain mean.

The BF is AWFUL at getting his ideas across without being a jerk. And I've gotten to where I don't want to hear it anymore (which increases his "jerk"ness.)
Sometimes I NEED to be told about my shortcomings. But it isn't too much to ask for it to be delivered in a tactful fashion, yes?
