Is 16 and 19 a big age gap, and how would my parents react?

I'm 16 and gay, and I'm in year 12 at sixth form. I've been dating a 19 year old, second year medical student for 3 weeks but I haven't told my parents about him yet (they know I'm gay). Is it a big gap, and is it generally a good idea? Thanks :)
