Stuck in a triangle - help!

  • Thread Starter

I've been in love with a guy i've known since september.
We're so close - the closest i've been to a guy as a friend. Spend hours talking to each other and watching films and hanging out etc. We lived with each other for 3 months before I changed flat (financial reasons).
Anyway. Whilst we were living together, he said to me whilst drunk - "I think you like me, and I like you too - i've never had feelings like this about a girl, but I don't want anything and think we should be friends". Considering what a contradictory message this was, I had no idea what to say or what to conclude from it so I just denied anything and said i'm happy to just be friends! Because essentially he's saying that even if I liked him, nothing would happen.

Anyway. We remained close as ever. Then his friend asked me on a date, and we've been seeing eachother very casually since january. I asked my friend if he had a problem with it, and if he did, i'd stop in a second - also giving him many other opportunities to realise I liked him and for him to tell me he wanted something between us.. However, he said it was completely fine and seemed genuinely okay with it.

But recently it's been getting me down (mainly because his friend turned out to be a dick) so I downright just said to him, look i've been confused with what's happening between us because you never tell me how you feel and I've never done the same. I've never told you but i've always been confused about how I feel towards you. And then the thing happened with your friend and I became even more confused". He replied again saying he liked me, but doesn't want anything to happen.

What on earth do I conclude from this? What does it mean when your friend tells you he really likes you but doesn't want anything?
