Is she doing this to make me jealous?

My gf dumped me in January after 3 months together - we agreed to be friends and up until april things were alright between us. We would still see each other daily at uni as we are on the same course, and we would often chat. However since the holidays began she became really distant - didn't respond to messages for about 10 days and then just yesterday we were having a conversation about what we have done over holidays. In this conversation she told me that she had been having casual sex with a friend of hers, and how much she enjoyed it.

I will make it clear, I am still deeply attached and she knows this very well. Why would she tell me this and make me even more hurt? Could she just be making it all up and trying to get a reaction out of me? She seemed overly happy during the conversation and it seemed a little bit superficial to me..

Please can somebody advise me what to do? I haven't been able to sleep with that thought stuck in my head all night! Is it likely that it is all bs and she just wants to hurt me by saying this?
