I have wanted to go to therapy for a long time. I have never been to a therapist before. I finally found one that I think would be a good fit for my situation but I don't know how to proceed.
Every time I call, I get her voicemail. I don't know what to say or how to get started so I just hang up. I guess I was expecting a receptionist on the other end to answer and guide me through the process.
This therapist also provides an email address and I thought that might be easier for me because I can think about what to say and revise it as many times as I need before sending it.
So should I give her a quick overview of my issues, or should I just ask her to contact me or what? I want to tell her about my issues so I can save time and find out if she's truly right for me or if she could recommend someone else. I don't want to do too much back and forth but I am not sure how this works.
Can anyone with experience help? I'd like to do this tonight while I have the courage!
