Team leader making work unbearable

  • Thread Starter

I started my job in January. when I started, my team leader went off sick until march and things were perfect - I loved my job. However, since she came back she has been an absolute cow. she doesn't do any work and gives me all the rubbish work to do because she simply cannot be bothered doing it herself.

she then has the cheek to tell my other team leader (I work in two different departments across the week) that I don't do any work and that I spread my work out to take longer and hence not as much work. this is rubbish and my team leader said it isn't true. Anyway, the horrible team leader even said all this to the manager who has asked my other team leader, who again denied it.

Today, she called me into a "meeting" which lasted barely 5 minutes and asked me if I liked her, if I had a problem with her, and told me that I had a bad manner. I couldn't actually believe it. I don't know what her issue is with me but I've done nothing wrong.

this team leader has had problems with EVERYONE in the department. she accused one girl of bullying her which was never taken any further, and even made one lady go off sick with depression. she has now returned to work but refused to come back to our department because of her.

after my "meeting" I went to see my other team leader and ended up crying, which I feel silly about :( but she said it's all rubbish and that she will have a word with the manager about this as 1) it's not true and 2) it's not acceptable to make me cry. the thing is, the horrible team leader and the manager are best friends. so nothing ever gets done and she gets away with treating people like rubbish.

everybody who I work with is on my side, so that's a positive, but I'm paranoid about the manager coming to see me as I really don't know what to say or how to say it. she is making me so unhappy. she talks to me like a child and is so patronising. she never gets off her backside to do any work but says she is sooo busy. she has no people skills whatsoever and is the common denominator in a hell of a lot of trouble at work. I really wish I could leave her department and work in the other one 5 days a week but I don't know if this is possible.

sorry it's so long but I had to rant :-/ any advice if the manager comes to see me tomorrow? like I said, they are best friends! GAH. Luckily I aren't working in her department tomorrow and I won't see her again until next week.

thanks guys.
