"I think you're awesome."

Is it a bit much to tell someone that? Say you know someone who you think is just a brilliant person, and you really just want to tell them. I'm just trying to think of something short and sweet I can say to the Boy on Monday (when I'll see him in RL for probably the last ever time) to sum up how much I truly value him as a person. Do you think it would be too weird to tell him that? I don't want to make things awkward, but I'm just bursting to say something like that to him...:S He's genuinely the best human I've ever met and I can't bear to not say something honest and from the heart to him in person. If someone said that to you, what would you think? :o
