I really don't see why girls get themselves into these. Sometimes they work if the're only short term, i.e. sleep with him for less than a month.
But generally speaking, if a guy wants more than sex from you, he won't want just sex, he'll say he wants you as more quite soon after starting sex, if not before you've even had sex.
If you give sex before any emotional attachment, there's nothing left for the male to want. Think about it from a male's perspective, he wants sex, he gets sex, why would he suddenly want to now spend his day doing stuff with you and then having sex, it makes no sense.
In short, I say to girls to not get involved in fwbs unless it's only a very short term thing and you know he really likes you as more because in the end, you'll get attached and through your actions, he won't.
