Choosing friends,Is it wrong?

  • Thread Starter

Hi ,
This may come off really mean but please hear me out. I've been thinking about it for some time.
I would like to know your opinions. My question is; Is it wrong to choose your friends? :/

So I just finished my alevels and was close to two girls ,they both went to my secondary school. We have been friends since then.
Only now I'm starting to see that we are completely different people. We do have our laughs here and there and rarely go out together all 3 of us.They will go out together and then talk about it at school and its like *Oh ok then*.You know that feeling when people make plans without you and then won't stop laughing and talking about what happened at break or lunch.

Anyway ,as I was saying ,as we have grown older I'm starting to feel like we are completely different people. One of them is such a show off.Whatever expensive item she gets she will flash it and show it off.E.g she got the latest iphone out and that phone wouldn't go into her bag/pocket ,it would be placed on the table in class or at lunch time or always in her hand.To name a few items Michael Kors bag ,nikes airfoces whatever they're called.I personally hate people who show off material things ,I can't stand them.I'm so thankful my parents have always got us what we wanted and I never felt the need to show off what I have. She would post them on snapchat with caption "mum is so cute" ,"look what mum got me".Her mum doesn't even work!.Another thing she does is complain about workload and how hard the work is ,the exams you name it.(we do 2/3 same subjects). She complains soo much It's really annoying me.The day before one of our exams she was saying how she didn't like one t opic & asked for tips and then I summarised it for her (over text) and I then asked if she wanted us to do a quiz and she hasn't replied since. It's been more than 7 days.
The other one ,rarely turns up to school.Out of the timetabled 15 (approx) she would only turn up to about 5 hours then ask if she could copy my notes /photocopy them.At the start of the year we had agreed to start volunteering together but she would always come up with excuses why she couldn't ,I eventually started doing it myself. She's also another show off.One time we were on the bus and she was carrying a bag from River Island with the logo on it.I was carrying one of a similar shape but mine wasn't branded ,my mum got it from a stall at the shopping centre when I was 15 .It was nothing fancy. So one of the friends we had got on the bus with says "Your bags are quite similar" then she (friend) says "Well mine is from ..."*points at the River Island logo*.

Lately I've been asking my self if I really have time for people like this in my life.
I like to think I'm motivated,I've worked hard for my a levels (hopefully it pays off),I work 2 jobs part time and volunteer at 2 places one a charity for elderly people with dementia and the other a homeless centre.I would like to befriend people like me who work and contribute something rather than complaining all the time and showing off.Maybe I'm being dramatic and over analysing things, I don't know.

Thanks for taking you time to read! i know its pretty long. All opinions welcome:D
